We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The resort itself is very nice. The garden setting and the beach are certainly above average and they are taking good covid precautions. The service is great and the staff is responsive and nice. This could be a 4 or 5 star if not for terrible food and lack of options. There are only two restaurants and one of them is only available if you make reservations. The food quality is poor and the choices are limited. Most substandard Mexican food you will ever find in Mexico. We have been to many resorts in MX in the past and I would rate this as one of the most disappointing All-Inclusive places. Having said that, the staff is really nice and the check-in process was a breeze. Very comfortable rooms with decent views. If I take the food part out, I would give it 5 stars for everything else.

Thank you very much for selecting Velas Vallarta as the setting for your well-deserved four-night getaway. I am glad that you found our gardens, beach, and the resort as a whole to be beautiful. Having a staff that is as "responsive and nice" as ours helps convert a good trip into a great vacation experience. But I must apologize, however, if you found the quality of our dishes to be lacking. Once we have detected any menu items that are not gaining positive responses from our guests, my chefs then decide to substitute that plate altogether. And as an added level of quality, we rotate our theme nights regularly, all to the great satisfaction of our guests. Thank you for your comments and for bringing your concerns to our attention. I am glad to relay that we have opened another restaurant in the evenings which is receiving stellar comments thus far. As always, we place ourselves at your service and hope to have the opportunity to demonstrate our overall quality in the future. LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL VELAS VALLARTA

This was our second time vacationing at Puerto Vallarta. The first time we spent a week at a beautiful high rise beach-front property. we had a great time. But felt like something was missing. In June, PV was hot and humid. we felt a bit trapped inside of our beautiful condo despite the fact that it was ocean-front. This time we spent a week at Velas, We had a great time! The ground was beautiful, well kept. Velas has an expensive stretch of white sand beach and it is a swim-able beach ( many hotels/resorts there even though they have a beach, but might be rocky and you won't be able to get in the ocean safely --- the crushing wave will slam you hard on the rocks !) Velas also have FREE beach side cabanas with chairs set up. We spent the morning playing at the beach and in the water and had our own private cabana. In the afternoon, a well-shaded poolside side shelter surrounded by flowers made it like haven! My kids loved chasing the green iguana that occasionally dropped from the trees. They also found bananas, papayas, coconuts growing on the property. At night, a peacock rest at our patio. In the evenings, we took long walks on the beach to watch sunset. We even saw a sea turtle laying eggs! The rooms are a bit dated, but they are all of good size and with kitchen and sitting area -- a place you would feel like you could actually rest and spend time in your room. Velas Vallarta is truly a peaceful resort. Staffs were very polite, helpful, and be mindful of Covid Precautions. We had not met one staff that would pull down his mask to speak. Housekeeping was great! They still do evening turn-down with chocolates! There was one day the kids messed up the room and showered again after housekeeping service. By the evening when we came back, our room was cleaned again, without any request from us! Velas is also within a walking distance to the Marina, where you can find some good food, shopping, and even cheap massage. There were a couple private local vendors on the beach of Velas, but they were all polite and wouldn't approach you like bees. I found them rather helpful as I bought a couple small items from them, and met a tour sales guy, Raffaele, he gave us good price for the Zip lines, and we also hired him to drive us for two days, a local PV trip, then go to San Sebastian Del Oeste for a 2nd day -- he had been vaccinated. A private tour was a good way to keep us safe in the Covid era. BTW, Velas had a great arrangement for Covid test for the return trip as well, on site, on time. Overall, we had a great time at Velas Vallarta.

Thank you very much, Lydia, for choosing Velas Vallarta on this occasion and getting the most out of your vacation dollar. I like that you were able to compare vacation experiences after staying previously at a different property. As you said, you "felt that something was missing." during your last trip. From reading your beautifully detailed review, it is clear that your family found your perfect niche in Velas Vallarta for outstanding sightlines, comfortable suites, well-trained staff, and a oneness with Mother Nature. And to top it all off, having your Covid tests performed and delivered to you without having to leave the resort is a wonderful plus. And I hope that all of the aspects you kindly mentioned entice your lovely family to return to the place that fulfills all your well-earned vacation needs. Until next time, Lydia, we send our warmest greetings to the children and wish you all a safe and prosperous summer. As always, we are at your service. LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL VELAS VALLARTA

Our family stayed at Velas Vallarta in the beginning of the rainy season. It was a wonderful stay! The rain mostly came for about an hour or two in the evening. The service was excellent and the staff was friendly and attentive. The beach was swimmable for our 10 year old, which was one of the reasons I chose this location. The Covid tests took 15 minutes for all 5 of us and I had the emailed results within 24 hours. They even printed them for me when I asked in the lobby. The spa massages were top notch. ALL of our meals, snacks and drinks were excellent! We loved our late dinners at Andrea each night. I highly recommend this resort to other families with kids. We have teens and a younger one and everyone loved it here!

As the director, I am highly delighted to learn that each member of your family loved their vacation experience with us at Velas Vallarta. One of the many positive factors about our resort is how we can successfully cater out to travelers of all ages. And that includes the children because they are just as much our clients as their parents are. Our Kid's Club, for young children, the wide stretch of beach great for all ages, or our casual and formal dining venues that attract their distinct clientele, there is always something for everyone to enjoy from morning to night. And there's nothing more convenient than allowing the hotel to arrange for your mandatory Covid testing without having to leave the resort to look for a clinic. That's just another reason why many people return to Velas Vallarta for the ease and comfort that we provide you. On behalf of the young women and men who make your family's happiness their #1 priority, I thank you for selecting our beautiful resort and wish you all the best for a wonderful summer. As always, we place ourselves at your service, LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL VELAS VALLARTA

Now in my eighties, I have been a multi-week timeshare member of Velas Vallarta for some twenty-three years, vacationing with my partner and sometimes good friends. In all of these years, the staff without exception, has been friendly and responsive to our needs and wishes. For example, this year we received a free upgrade to a ground floor suite to accommodate the mobility limitations of my partner, which she greatly appreciated. In short, a genuine home away from home. Yes, Covid has put a temporary pause on some of the entertainments we've looked forward to, such as the nightly shows in the spacious lobby and the Sunday fiesta. What hasn't changed are the gorgeously landscaped grounds, the feature that first attracted me to Velas. Other amenities such as the three pools (the more sedate "adult" pool, the kids pool, and the "party" pool with its underwater seating bar), the exercise room, the spa, the restaurants, are alive and well, with a few carefully managed Covid restrictions. Plus, there is the ocean beach with palapas for taking in the salt air. On a couple of occasions, my plus 80 body challenged and got rolled by the breakers but emerged unscathed. The staff are scrupulous in their attention to Covid hygiene practices. All are masked, even landscape workers outdoors, Us fully vaccinated vacationers, not so much, but most of us do mask up in the lobby. No new guest is allowed through the front entrance without a temperature check, strictly enforced. (I witnessed one episode of a "firm" if semi-polite rejection first hand.) Regarding climate, our first time late May thru mid June, and it was warm (to be charitable) and somewhat humid, but temps were mid-eighty highs and the units comfortably air-conditioned. Two days before we left, we got Covid tests at the resort at a modest twenty bucks, so that we could board our return flight, both of us testing "negativo." I should mention in closing that Puerto Vallarta itself has largely "opened up." We were able to dine at and enjoy our favorite restaurants, plus a new gem, Ah Caramba, with its incredible view of all of PV and Banderas Bay.
