However, concerns have been raised over the value for money, with some guests feeling let down by the lack of comfort and poor facilities. The resort is Mexican themed and brings out the best relative to its' accommodations, service, location,
cleanliness, nightly pool side entertainment, pool, beach front area and the graciousness of the staff. Everyone is happy there and good times are had by all. Nice location too, half way between old town and the marina.

My Wife and I have stayed here 5 different times. I cannot say enough about all of the staff who work there, they are so nice and friendly, try to accommodate all your needs. Location is great, about a 30 to 45 minute walk (along the waterfront or the road to downtown.
Breakfast is great at the restaurant and the snacks yo can order by the pool are great.
Regarding COVID-19, this resort takes it very seriously and everyone is masked up and hand sanitizers were readily available.
Farmacias' right across the road from main entrance as well as an OXXO where you can buy water.
There is also a liquor store about 100yds to the left of the resort.
Pool Bar waiters, Hector and Pedro speak excellent English and go out of there way to help you.

Cab ride into town for 4 people about !20 pesos.
Highly recommend this resort. Try to get a room in the Tower with an Ocean View and make sure you visit the Rooftop Bar to appreciate the sunsets.

Foreigners shouldn’t be afraid traveling to PV. We felt safe the whole time we were there. They checked our temperature upon arrival to the hotel and made us use the provided sanitizer. Mask is required unless you’re eating, swimming or in the beach. Washing hands or sanitizing before entering a restaurant is a must. Rooms were sealed with sanitized sticker. Counters and tables were constantly sanitized.

Our favorite hotel in PV which is Sunset is close until December so they told us to stay here instead. This is way different from what we’re accustomed to in Sunset in terms of food, amenities, room and environment but as members of Sunset, we were able to go to Sunset and enjoyed the pool and bar. I think we were the only members checked in and my kids were able to use the adult pool. Basically we had the entire area for ourselves except Monday- Wednesday when we were told that the area was reserved for 200 college student from the Club (hotel next door). It was such a turn off since we were told that Sunset was for members only. Anyway, we didn’t mind hanging out in the Grand. We just spent most of our time lounging in the cabana coz there were a lot of people in the pool area. Didn’t look like there was any distancing happening there. We saw familiar faces from Sunset like Francisco (from Luciano), Rubin and Jose (bell boys), Adalberto, Cresencio, and Roberto. There were few more people from Sunset we saw and we’re glad they still remembered us. Love seeing them again. As usual they were all smiles and helpful. We also met new ones who were awesome as well: Alfredo who was there helping us entertained with different activities each day and Martin from the restaurant. We love chatting with him and he was always attentive to us. Kiana (front desk) was always helpful and Melissa (towels/cabana) who was accommodating- prepared cabanas for us. Thank you for making our vacation relaxing.

This resort looks good online but not so much in reality. They cheap out on everything. No mini bar fridge in any rooms. Only allowed 2 bottles of water. At the pool you are only allowed 2 towels that they give you a card to get them and if you don’t return them they charge $40 US. If you dirty a towel in your room with makeup or hair dye from your hair you will be charged. The food is ok nothing spectacular. Definitely a cheap resort. Rooms are mediocre. Bathtubs are painted and chipping. Will never stay here again. A real step down from other resorts.

We stayed at the hotel for a week in August, 2019 & everything was amazing.
Our daughters played beach volleyball every single day during our stay in what we called the Tournament of the Pacific Coast between Puerto Rico & Mexico. If they were about to begin, Mario would make sure that our daughters knew about it. He went far & beyond when it comes to beach & pool activities & our daughters can’t wait to go back once it’s safe for us to travel due to COVID and see him again.
Our room was clean, comfortable, with view to the pool and beach. Imagine opening your sliding door and sleeping a “siesta” or at night to the sound of the waves!
We decided to take the all inclusive package and it was worth every penny. My husband could have drinks at the bar with his new friend Rafael, and in terms of meals, they changed menus every day & you could choose from a variety of options. Coffee quite amazing too!
Hotel has its own security staff, so you could walk around the hotel even past midnight & always feel safe.
Each night they had live entertainment events, ranging from music to comedy, so it was like being in a cruise ship.
There’s a bar, couple of sofas & chairs & jacuzzi at the top, where you can watch daily fireworks and amazing view of the beach and coast.
As someone with disabilities, I was able to enjoy the infinity pool. An elevator in one of the 2 buildings gives you access to your room, if you’re on a wheelchair.
Lots of souvenir shops, a bank & even a 7 Eleven are within walking distance of the hotel. We also took a cab to El Malecón (or Boardwalk) which is a couple of mins away from the hotel, depending on traffic.
All in all, reasonable prices, delicious food and entertainment for the whole family; can’t wait till it’s safe to travel again once COVID19 is under control & stay in this little paradise again, and return to visit our new friends from Plaza Pelicanos!
PS- The hotel manager is quite friendly & my husband had the opportunity to chat and congratulate the hotel staff.

Super dissatisfied with this hotel, many issues and none of them resolved. Arrived and we were placed in the wrong suite for 2 days, complained constantly. Suppose to be in a king room, they stuck us in a sub standard room with 2 small beds, asked for a balcony, no balcony, asked for ocean view did not get that either. Finally day 3 we were moved to a king room with balcony, the view was of the hotel next door...so still no ocean view but the room was much better. My husband was cleaning up and I kid you not the kitchen sink completely fell out, water, dishes and all. Took 2 days to fix, at no time were we offered any compensation. Our friends while in the room a fan blade completely disengaged from the fan and went flying across the room, nothing done or offered to them, luckily my friend was not hurt but it was very close to her. After our sink was fixed the bathroom sink wouldn’t drain properly, I suspect they cleaned the glue and silicone from tools in there. Asked for maintenance yet again...no one ever came at all. After the kitchen sink was fixed then the cupboard was almost falling off ... this hotel is tired and old and is in desperate need of TLC. Sure hope something is done about this but I doubt it.

As for Puerto Vallarta I always enjoy going there, we come down every year sometimes twice
Definitely choosing somewhere else to stay
My friends who I talked into coming and raving about this place also felt too much money for what you get.
Our next trip we will move on to somewhere else.

After doing my research for many days online, I'm so happy I came across this hotel. I reserved it through Plaza Pelicanos Grand website which they had a promotion going on so I was able to get a great deal. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a drink and friendly staff. Check in was super quick and easy (I printed out all my reservation and confirmation numbers along with the rooms I booked). I booked all inclusive 1 standard room with 2 queen beds and 1 bedroom suite with a master bed. Both rooms were very clean and a lot bigger than i thought! I was very pleased with the room sizes. As far as food, it was excellent! Everything tasted great and staff was very attentive. My daughter is vegetarian and there was a lot of meatless food for her to enjoy so she was very pleased. There's actually a lot more food than I thought. Right outside the restaurant throughout the day they have different kinds of food which was amazing. The pools are great and the beach is also very nice and not rocky when i went. (December 2019). I really enjoyed this hotel and will be coming back. It was definitely a lot better than I had expected.

We are regular visitors to Puerto Vallarta since 1999, and out of the many hotels we've stayed at, this hotel by far is the worst. Rooms were clean, however, it is a hit and miss on whether you will have clean towels, garbage emptied, coffee maker cleaned and toilet working (it was replaced after one week of daily requests to fix). There is absolutely no hot water for showers, until at least 5pm. The bed, though comfortable, was always half made, with one sheet covering half of the mattress, and one sheet for cover. The food was the same everyday, and did not look appetizing at all. Fruit looked a few days old, as did some other hot meals. Service in the eating area was mediocre, we had to ask several time for salt and pepper, and cream for coffee. On one occasion, I asked the kitchen and concierge desk for 2 coffee cups to have in our room, and I was told no they couldn't give me any!! The pool area was clean, and surprisingly enough, the hotel didn't allow guests to claim chairs by putting towels on them, so finding a spot by the pool was quite easy. The food at the pool was so so, and the same every day...hamburgers, hot dogs and fries, however the oven made pizza was fantastic. Drinks were watered down, including sodas, and unless you consistently tipped, you were passed by. Salvador by far was the most kindest, attentive and best server by far. Tables by the ocean wall area and the beach area were littered with trash daily. Wifi was not available in rooms, only in lobby area, and was extremely slow. There were some nights where unruly guests were extremely loud and obnoxious after 1:30am. Evening shows were so so, and so was the A La Carte restaurant (French and The Grill were decent). The staff were not very helpful when we requested a room change, asking directions, and upon leaving I received not help at all with getting luggage to the bus. I had inquired about arranging a special dinner for 4, to celebrate our 25th Anniversary and received a run around from the Concierge desk, and therefore after 2 days gave up. Definitely not the greatest hotel for the money and service at all. Go elsewhere!!!

Resort is very small, noon and evening buffets are not that good, breakfast ok - fresh fruit, pastries, cold cereal, omelet made to order. Noon they have a wood fired pizza not that good, they offer nacho and cheese, burgers and hot dogs by the bar, The burgers were actually very good. at 1pm they offer lunch by the bar, mostly deep fried - this was way better than the buffet. We booked into the al la cart in the evenings and they were very good. Rooms were clean, our friends were in the tower and their room was much updated from ours. Rooms and bathroom were clean and maids did a good job. No beer or pop in the fridge in room, I asked to have some put in and was told to go across he street and buy what I needed. Make sure to have the credit card you booked with as if you try another one will be a problem. We will not be going back.

We stayed at the resort and had the absolute pleasure of dining at the a la carte many nights. The service for our family of 7 was beyond amazing and the food was delicious! We were always greeted with a friendly smile and brought to our table. The staff checked we were comfortable and our drinks were always full. We love to experience different foods and we were so impressed here! The food was brought out in such a timely manner and the dishes were cleared promptly. The presentation was always spectacular! A huge thank you to Ricardo, Roberto, Martin and Omar for an incredible experience. We highly recommend this place!
