Set against the scenic marina, Mayan Palace at Vidanta Puerto Vallarta garners praise for its spotless rooms and the professional demeanor of its staff, who ensure a welcoming atmosphere. While the entertainment venues buzz with vivacity, guests have noted that the room decor could use a refresh.
The hotel's proximity to the beach and local amenities is a hit, yet some visitors feel the value is diminished by unexpected extra costs and high-pressure sales tactics. Despite a commendable variety of activities, dated amenities and additional charges have left several travelers less than satisfied.

Detailed Reviews
Our 3rd stay at a Vidanta Resort. This year was spent at the Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta marina. A smaller resort located on the beach in the marina district of Puerto Vallarta a 5 - 10 minute walk to the marina. The walkway around the marina is about 1 mile with many restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, drug stores, and corner stores. Every Thursday evening there is a local market offering a great variety of items for sale. Unlike Vidanta in Nuevo Vallarta this resort is readily accessible to the local bus. For 10 pesos you can go downtown or anywhere else you may want to travel to locally. We found it very handy for doing to Walmart to do our grocery shopping.
The resort itself is a bit dated but very clean and adequate for our needs. We were in building 2 on the 3 rd floor in a 1 bedroom unit overlooking the pool area and the Bay of Banderas. The room consisted of a King bed (not very comfortable), two couches that double as beds, 2 televisions, a lovely balcony with 2 chairs and a table overlooking the pool, a mini kitchen with a 2 burner stove that took forever to heat, a microwave, a mini fridge, toaster, blender and coffeemaker. All we really needed for breakfast and lunch.
The pool area was large and well designed with ample lounge chairs and umbrellas to enjoy the sun or shade. There is a swim up bar and pool side service and happy hour is from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm daily. Don't expect 2 for 1 after 3:00 though. The waiting staff were very personable and attentive. There is also a pool side restaurant with excellent food.
In addition to the pool side restaurant there is at pizza area that offers a tasty treat and the Bakal, another restaurant that offers a breakfast buffet and reverts to finer dining area at a reasonable price in the evening, overlooking the ocean and the Puerto Vallarta skyline.
All in all we had an excellent 3 weeks and once again we were very impressed with Vidanta. They are a class act!

The Mayan Palace is in a great location close to many restaurants. We ate right across the street several times ( Callejon). The food is really good and good prices. We had a wonderful view from floor 2 of the pool and ocean. The units itself had a comfortable bed and great shower. The check in took hours and we had to rest and in a line several times. The kitchen is woefully understocked if you want to cook. It had only one big knife and not even a paring knife, or a tall glass. Nothing is provided, not even coffee. I recommend bringing as much as you can with you but nothing already opened. They took my husband's sandwich at the airport. I brought scissors, bread I like, ground coffee, cereal, frozen carton of my non dairy creamer and a frozen box of soy milk because of allergies. You can catch a bus right outside that is only 10 pesos. We took it to Walmart and the supermarket by the whale. Don't get too much though because its a half refrigator with almost no freezer space. We have stayed at Vidanta in Nuevo Vallarta before and much prefer this because of the location.

Stayed from mid January to first week in February. The resort was very clean as are all Vidanta resorts. There was only one restaurant open they combined Balchi and Il Farnodi Gio the food and service was top notch. You could always walk to the marina to eat outside great restaurants also, the one disappointment was Route 66, their gamic was live music at dinner time but the food and service was fair at best. Ate and drank mostly at the resort. We did not want to take to many chances with covid.
Breakfast at Balchi was worth the buffet was $17.50 US. We took advantage of Happy hour by the pool and their burgers are very good and filling, Dorle was a great waitress at the pool bar fast service and attentive same to say about Elizabeth at the Sunset Bar she know how to make drinks. The Joy squad was doing a very good job keeping the pool side guest entertained with trivia, bingo, black jack and question of the day. The gym was very clean and limited capacity Frenando the coach was attentive and was making sure people using the equipment were not using it a way to hurt themselves. Really enjoyed our stay at the resort and a big part of it was we declined the sale presentation which was going to be at the NV location. We are Grand Luxxe members but prefer a quite low key vacation. I did not even log golf clubs along this time. Mayan Palace in Puerto Vallarta offers that, you don't have to wait for shuttles to get around. The Spa was great got a massage and listening to the waves crashing was very relaxing. Great resort and look forward to being back next year.
The one complaint was two of the washers and driers were out of service. Arturo at the concierge desk was very friendly and helpful. He assured me was going to move the problem up the chain so something can be gone.

It's next to impossible to pass up the very reasonable price to stay at a Vindanta property. I chose the Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta mostly because of it's Marina location and easy access to downtown.
Vindanta leverages a weaponized sleight of hand as they distract guests from the fact that every resort room has some plumbing or other flaw that hasn't been attended to, while dazzling you with their 5 types of ecological repurposing and future plans that include Cirque du Soliel entertainment.
Potential members are offered upgrades while members and non members are treated poorly.
I've listened to the '90 minute' pitch (which begins after breakfast with the agent) which
Often goes to 3-4 hours of dizzying permutations of ownership packages. Rep after Rep haranguing you until you are mentally exhausted. Occasionally you leave with most of the tours, massages, cash they promised to entice you to attend the sales pitch. (Read: they lie - a lot.)
However, if you bypass the sales pitch, you are given an 'allotment room' far from the elevator, A grey non member room key (vs green member room key), no patio or ocean view. The front desk will lie and tell you there is no other availability when it is obvious that they are no where near full.
At the downtown Malecon there are scattered information booths for visitors. The
Information providers ask where tourists stay because they are always asked for recommendations. Unsolicited, I was told "by far the most complaints are for Vindanta
Than anywhere else".
Vindanta is high pressure, greedy and discards guests after they have paid. They have a lot to learn about the hospitality business.

Appreciable Sheasadorable, Thank you for submitting your mixed experience with us. It is great to know that you liked our resort location. However, It is disappointing to learn that your experience was not satisfactory. As one of the most successful companies in the Mexican tourism field, we clearly communicate the terms and conditions associated with accepting an invitation to our sales presentation. We appreciate their visit whether they decide to acquire our products or not. Nonetheless, this highly exceptional occurrence will be shared with the appropriate area since we strive to make each and every one of our guests feel cared for, appreciated and respected. Your comments are always welcomed. Warmest regards, Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta Management.

The resort is located in the Marina area of Puerto Vallarta, walking distance to the Marina with the many restaurants and shops. Check in was pleasant with the Front Desk and bellmen working hard to answer our many questions. Our second floor room was the lockoff bedroom portion of a two (2) bedroom unit. Very small. Furnishings were very, very basic in the smaller unit. They provide lots of bath towels, but, only one hand towell and one wash cloth. The desk confirmed that you could ask housekeeping for more, but only the minimal amount is standard. There is not a bath tub in the unit.
The Mayan Palace charges a "Resort Fee" based on the room size. The One bedrrom Unit is $250. The lockoff bedroom is $200. And $450 for the combined two bedroom unit. The "Resort Fee" includes Airport to Resort transportation on arrival. This is an 80 peso value or $4.00 US. Also included is a $50 credit at the restaurant. The restaurant credit may be different if you are in a larger unit. The pool area was not busy while we were there. The marketing department indicates that 19 dining options existed, but only one onsite restaurant. ???? Housekeeping did a great job daily. The resort has onsite Covid 19 testing available to permit re-entry to the US by airline. The concierge was very helpful as I was unable to get the QR code to work for the property information. I should note that the resort only had three accessable electrical outlets in the main room. All had lamps plugged into one outlet and one had a clock radio. This left two outlets for charging phones and tablets. This shows the age the building was constructed before electronics became common. One additional outlet was in the bathroom.
RCI should evaluate the rating of this property to meet the expectations of their members. It is very basic.

I am sorry to say that we were very disappointed in the Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta. It is a very old, outdated resort.
We bought into Vidanta one year ago from San Jose Del Cabo as that resort is exceptionally beautiful. We assumed all Vidanta resorts would be the same quality.
This was not even close.
The staff are wonderful, the food was very good, but other than that we were very disappointed. Uncomfortable bed and pillows, outdated bathroom, no decks to sit on, pool chairs very uncomfortable, only 6 cushioned lounge chairs that were occupied by the very same couples EVERY day, ALL day for the entire week. I believe those couples must have placed their towels on the lounges by 5 am to assure their comfort for the day.
Vidanta should either upgrade this resort or find another to buy in PV.

Big difference between Nuevo Mayan Palace and Marina Mayan Palace (ours) but both have their charms. We liked Marina Mayan Palace a lot. Being near the Marina had benefits-lots of offsite stores and restaurants within walking distance (La Europea for wine). Much smaller venue than Nuevo's but this means more accessible pool and restaurant affordability.
We did the time share presentation (taken to the vast Nuevo) as there were many perks offered and delivered. Took a lot of time, but with 14 days to fill still well worth it. Interesting info, but also much learned around the pool from members. Many Long Timers there-members for 5, 10 even 25 years.
Nice hotel room with pool view-would have preferred a 1 bedroom with kitchen but we were late bookers,
Great staff, clean, strong metal door, room has a good safe, small bar fridge, daily linen changes and nightly turndown service.
Pool was large and lovely with several areas, a nice smallish dining venue, and the Joy Squad lively and fun. They were good at getting even the oldest guests participating. Very nice fully equipped indoor gym.
Liked the Bakal restaurant a lot. They had a nice spacious marble venue inside, and 2 attractive outdoor seating areas as well. Thanks to the timeshare VIDA Privilege card we had excellent 1/2 price breakfasts (plus a nice city/rural day tour (Discovery), and tour discounts). The breakfast buffet was popular but we did the menu instead as we were served, got lots to eat, but spent less..VIDA Privilege card also gave us 2 for 1 pizza Mondays, and 2 for 1 Mojitos (5 pm to 6 pm) at the lovely Sunset Bar by the beach.

We own at Luxxe Loft Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta and on upgraded from Grand Mayan because we wanted guaranteed ocean view and were advised this new building would have ocean view in every room. They don’t. We traded to Mayan Palace at the Marina so that we could use our membership without having to go to the Nuevo Vallarta property. We refuse to set foot on that property again, especially for updates! While at the Marina property they made herculean efforts to get us to attend the presentation, they were not obnoxious about It. We also know that if we had attended we would have been asked why we attended f we had no intention of buying and would be subjected to extreme rudeness.
As at the Nuevo property, staff are great, rooms are spacious and well kept as are the grounds.
It has a more relaxed feel than the Nuevo property.
The owners still charge you for using water, coffee and the owner’s charity foundation without asking you ahead of time. If you don’t notice you are simply charged.
Their fees are on the high end as are food charges. I have since found resorts that are more competitive and having nicer rooms.
For the most part they are handicapped accessible. It is a challenge finding a route to the marina that has ramps all of the way. There was one problem about the pool area regarding accessibility. The elderly and handicapped have difficulty with ladders in the pool. The steps are surrounded by tables and chairs for an outdoor restaurant.
Unlike the Nuevo property, you can leave and access other parts of the city with ease and you do not have to walk 20 minutes to get anywhere on the resort.
The balconies in some rooms are very shallow and you cannot even put out a chair to sit.

First time visiting these resort, and wow I was really impressed, had a awesome time, fast check in and check out, once you arrive the bell boys take your luggage up to your room, even when you go to the store for groceries, they all take your stuff to your room. Lots of pools to enjoy for adults and kids. Great food and entertainment . Great Resort!

Everyone we met on the staff was wonderful! The location is better than Nuevo with all the shops and restaurants at the Marina about a half mile walk. Although we had a seventh floor ocean view, the February sunset was not visible from our room. We enjoyed the extensive buffet breakfast daily, but found that we had to "mark" our poolside or beach-side chairs before sunrise in order to have a place during the day. We were extremely disappointed to find that the pool is not heated, and there is not a hot tub on the property. The bathrooms in our two bedroom were gross! They were oddly arranged, and in need of new fixtures. (the bathroom sink was exposed to the living room) The enamel in the tubs was worn through to the metal. Overall I would say we were unimpressed, and we will not return to this property.
