Our experience at Catalina Beach Resort was a good one. The two main things to know are: 1) It is a wonderful hotel in a great location and 2) There are tons of stairs and no elevator. If like walking on the beach, the stairs are no big deal. The quaintness of the hotel and its friendly staff will win...

We had a fabulous 10-day stay at the Hotel Catalina in January. There is so much character and charm throughout the property. The views from the room, sunset bar, Linda Vista restaurant and pool are outstanding. The location was perfect for exploring Playa la Ropa during the day and taxi or walk to town in the evening. The food on...

The lobby of this hotel is nice enough, but the rooms that we and our friends stayed in were dingy and depressing. There wasn't even a dresser in the junior suite and the pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. The mattress was fine and the linens were clean. The walkout from our room to the roof was decrepit and dangerous, with no...

The place is nice , the beach is wonderful. but. There is at least 150 steps or stairs to go down every time you want to go to the beach and another 150 stairs Up to the hotel! Great if your young and want the workout several times a day, not suitable for most seniors or young families with small....

Enjoyed a week long vacation at his lovely old hotel. However, it is getting older and needs more tlc. Bedding was clean but ratty and pillows were not comfortable at all. Our view was nice but could have been better if some of the shrubbery was pruned back. The stair climb from lobby to beach is a killer which made...

This is NOT AN ALL INCLUSIVE; it is a real hotel with real Mexican charm; built over 60 years ago it has been well maintained and is set in the hillside amongst the natural surroundings. It has the best beach in Zihua and amazing staff. And the Linda Vista Restaurant is the best kept secret in all of Mexico; last...

Zihuatanejo's oldest hotel on La Ropa beach. Spectacular setting on hillside above the beach. Views from the restaurant and Sunset Bar are amazing. The food is good. Happy hour at the sunset bar 6-8. Nice beach bar,no happy hour but good prices on their beers. You can order food at the beach which is nice so you don't have to...

If you like quirky and old world, this is for you. The guests keep coming back year after year, usually at the same time and in the same room, and for good reason. The staff, the food, the views, the stairs to the beach through jungle, there are so many reasons to love this place. But it is the guests...

We've stayed here many times over the past years. It is a beautiful location right on one of the best beaches in Mexico. The hotel has been around for many years and many of the visitors are repeaters like ourselves. It is somewhat rustic and the rooms are a little worn and tired but always clean. Staff is extremely nice...
