I had a wonderful time here. Very clean, extremely helpful, quiet but friendly environment.. And excellent value too. There's no reason to stay anywhere else in Oaxaca.

Brilliant hostel here. Small and quaint with a capacity of perhaps 20 guests, the staff make you feel right at home from the moment you enter the door. Having breakfast is almost like a family affair as everyone sits around a long table and is served their fresh morning coffee. Very good location, rooms and facilities - Hard to fault.

We received an impressive service and assistance: Guillermo speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable - the perfect guide and host. Our room was spacious with great character; the courtyard beautiful and a lovely place to have breakfast. We both felt inspired.

Great place, super clean, very safe and in an awesome location. I stayed in a double room for 420 pesos a night and I thought that was pretty good value. It is share bathrooms but they are quite nice and very clean, they seem to clean them every few hours. Breakfast is also quite good. The room was really nice,... More

Beautiful place to stay with great breakfast and excellent service. We loved the courtyard, the owner went out of his way to organise a birthday cake for my partner while we were on a day tour. Few proprieters gave his attention to detail, we were really impressed and would definately recommend.

We were in Oaxaca during Semana Santa which was very busy, and Hostal Casa del Sol was a really nice place to come back to during the hot afternoon to relax. Our room was really big, the bed was very comfortable. Our door to our room was an old tall wooden door that opened in 4 parts. We slept with... More

The hostal's chief - Guillermo very kind and helpful. Despite our late arrival to Oaxaca (at abt 11 pm) he waited for us patiently. Rooms are big, patio full of flowers and small ceramic decoration. The most impressive is the ladies' bathroom! Very good price for the service offered and first of all kindess & discretion of the staff,

We arrived at Casa del Sol after a 12 hour overnight bus ride from San Cristobal de las Casas. Understandably the room wasn't ready. While we were taking stock, some other guests appeared, complaining about being eaten alive in the night. We wanted to clean up and rapidly found out there was only one male and one female shower room... More

Stayed here on our first few nights in this amazing city and loved every minute. What value!!! Lovely rooms with an authentic colonial feeling, lush centre garden area with waterfall and simply perfect outdoor and indoor cafes. Would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at Casa Del Sol for 8 nights whilst we studied Spanish and explored the city. The hostel is situated in a lovely part of town within 5 minutes of the centre but far enough away to be peaceful. The hostel is very clean, and Guillermo, Armando and Victor were helpful and friendly in every way. During our stay they... More
