We booked a private room with double bed and private bathroom- the room was spacious and clean. Posada del Abuelito is in a good location, walking distance to everything in San Cristobal. The help yourself breakfasts were perfect and we really enjoyed our stay here. Fairly well priced as well.

I really enjoyed my stay here. I met lovely people, the hostel was very quiet and relaxing and there was a gorgeous, well-stocked kitchen. The employees were generally amazing, although the night guard was very grumpy.

Wonderful location, beautiful set-up, and great people. Quite close to Zocolo, everything is within walking distance. Take a bit to look at their binders for a lot of fun activities and trips around the state!

Place was clean and it had a very friendly athmosphere, there is a warm fireplace in the comon room and the city centre is just a small walk away. There are lots of trees around the house so you feel you really are far away from home

This place is really cute and has nice facilities but the private rooms without baths are small, I felt claustrophic. You can't open the one window bc it's either too cold or you have no privacy and they are in rather public thoroughfares. The showers can be a cold walk back to your room. You can also hear your neighbors...

This hostel was amazing. It really is the standard against which all other hostels should be judged! The staff were incredibly kind and competent, the breakfast was delicious and the whole place feels like a home. Warm, inviting, good company and, of course, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is also wonderful for cooking and eating in; unlike most hostels it...

Spend the extra 20 pesos and stay here if you can find availability. This is a really nice little hostel with an amazing breakfast and friendly staff. There are loads of sitting areas to enjoy yourself and utilities like maps, computers, books and a full kitchenette with spices and oil. I really enjoyed my stay in this quiet little hostel,...

Posada del Abuelito is a great place to stay. The walk from the bus stop is a little long (20min) if you're laden down after a night bus, but it's worth it. It's a cosy old colonial house with central courtyards with plants and hammocks and places to sit. The breakfast is great, the staff helpful, and the atmosphere friendly...

When I arrived in San Cristobal de las Casas I was tired and exhausted from the long bus ride. I hadn’t booked a hostel yet and decided to go to the Posada del Abuelito, because I had heard good things about it. Well, my experience at this place was exceptional! The moment I walked in to this charming small hostel...
