Bela's B & B is in a fabulous location in the historic heart of San Cristobal de Las Casas, close to markets, shops, restaurants, sights, etc.. A gracious, accomodating host, Bela has created lovely rooms within the traditional architecture. They are full of folk art around a courtyard bursting with colorful flowers. This is a place to which I will...

First, let me comment on the bed – extremely comfortable. My husband said “the beds were like Goldilocks, just right”. The location, you can’t beat; easy walking to restaurants, shopping, churches, etc. The chocolates Bela leaves every night are amazing – totally addicting. The warm service Bela provides is outstanding. She gives you the option to have a secure driver...

Where to begin ? Beautiful flowered courtyard, scattered chairs to catch the sun and read in blissful quiet, huge breakfast buffets in cozy kitchen, (really good coffee) comfortable beds and room with western amenities (plus homemade chocolates appearing magically each afternoon by one's bedside) fresh flowers in the rooms, only one block from the indigenous market and beautiful church, and...

We had a large, beautiful room with a firm queen bed, down comforter, electric blanket and electric heater if needed (they weren't), beautifully tiled bathroom, spacious shower, balcony, views of the city and the mountains and lots of light. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of fresh fruits, fresh breads, eggs, homemade granola and yoghurt, pancakes, french toast, bacon, fresh...

We usually don't seek out bed and breakfasts; we prefer our own space and have experienced b and b's where there was too much chintz and knick knacks. But Belas was perfect. Besides having a perfect, quiet location, we met the most interesting people there and had wonderful conversations in the sunny breakfast room around the table. The breakfasts are...

My husband and I stayed at Bela's for four nights in June, and couldn't have asked for more. We had the room at the top of the steps with a balcony, looking out over the town and mountains. The location was perfect - very convenient yet quiet. Bela was so kind and helpful, despite a staff-related medical emergency. All her...

What can I say. This place felt like home (plenty of interesting books in the wood cabinet but we had too much to see around). It is well maintained (be careful of the hot water - they are REALLY hot), well decorated (I wish I'd have the energy to invest this much in my apartment) and well equipped (no TV...

We loved our 4 nights with Bela, including her 4 dogs and the other fine guests she seems to attract. Bela is from the USA and carries her hippie commune roots into her B&B. The place is tasteful and charming, no incense or beads. It is only if you linger after breakfast will you learn of Bela's amazing life story....
