We just completed a stay at the Ritz Carlton in Cancun and thought I’d share our review. We could not pass up the opportunity provided by the recent lowered redemption rates and booked the stay for 35k per night. We also utilized a soon to be expired free night certificate rounding ourselves up to a 6 night stay. Everything was easily booked through the Bonvoy app for the period of January 14th - 20th 2021. On our arrival, we were happy to see that the COVID-19 related safety precautions were well instituted and marked throughout the property. The whole welcome process was very professional, from Joaquin at the door, as well as our check-in by Caesar. It was impressive to see their dedication to guest safety in action by Ruben who brought us to our room. Ruben called the elevator for us and advised us that he would meet us on our floor as the hotel’s COVID protocols only allowed a maximum of 2 persons per elevator. It may seem like a simple matter but with the situation as it is today, that small gesture went a long way to helping reassure us that the protocols were not just for show. Sadly, the Ritz-Carlton brand does not recognize Titanium Elite status other than acknowledging your loyalty and providing a recognition certificate for complimentary drink during your stay (we’ll go over that later). So our request for an upgrade was turned down and we were provided the room we booked. Regardless, we were staying at the Ritz-Carlton as a pamper point in our travels within Mexico and we did not really mind. The hotel itself is as grand as one would expect of a Ritz-Carlton property. The room was spacious, comfortable with a balcony overlooking the pool and beach. There is something to be said with the peaceful sounds of waves crashing on the beach each night. As this was our first visit to Cancun, we ventured out for the first few days to explore the town and surrounding areas. We quickly realized that Cancun reminded us of Las Vegas.... the ‘strip’ is everything. After coming to that realization, we retreated to the hotel and changed into R&R mode. We spent much of the rest of our days taking advantage of the beautiful beach which the hotel occupies. There is a layered approach to occupying the beach. First and closest to the shore are the beach chairs along with umbrellas, the middle section are padded chaises with retractable sun shades. Finally, the nearest row to the hotel are cabanas which are later turned into dining by the beach cabanas for sunset. The padded chaises and cabanas are available for daily rental, while the beach chairs and umbrellas are free to use. Regardless of where you park yourself, the staff ensure you are set up comfortably and are not lacking for anything. The food and drink offerings are provided from the hotel’s grill and consist primarily of pub food & drink fare. We spent much of our time on the beach and could not have been happier. The sand is like talcum powder and the service was spectacular. What more could anyone want? Our stay with the Ritz-Carlton Cancun was memorable for the comfort and grandeur of the property along with its amenities. The dining options span the spectrum from casual to fine dinning. The fitness facilities are well equipped and equal to any big city fitness centre. On our final night we decided to head down to the D’Lounge to utilize our complimentary cocktails certificate provided at check-in. We opted for the Ritz-Carlton Margaritas and added the Ritz-Carlton Cake (see images). No one should leave the property without trying both.... delicious! I would recommend the Ritz-Carlton Cancun to anyone looking for extreme pampering. The property did not disappoint in that regard for us and I am sure others will find the same with their own experience. Thank you to the staff for a pleasant stay and I hope you find this review helpful.…
Great place to stay. The service is amazing. The Hotel has a beautiful beach, with incredible service of food, drinks, etc. We will back because is a travel safe location with all requested Covid measures.
Upon arrival, we noticed the hotel as an “old gal”, showing her 70’s style and still looking fabulous. The staff here were beautiful from the get go. The attention to detail is perfect and social distancing rules adhered etc throughout. I don’t normally get excited about hotel food but during our one night stay we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here and all were amazing.
We traveled here after Christmas with a few friends. It exceeded our expectations. My husband and I had been before, a couple years previously, but we didn’t remember the hotel well. Now, we are likely to forget again. Even though the hotel was “sold out” for our December trip, it was at limited capacity. It didn’t seem like there were many people and it was never difficult for us to get pool or beach chairs. We felt very safe traveling here during Covid — safer than in the US. Everywhere we went in Cancun, masks use was mandatory and ALL the works wore masks and gloves at all times. The hotel encouraged social distancing and had signs everywhere about touch points that were being cleaned and sanitized. Our friends loved the property. The weather was great. No complaints at all. Just wish we could go back again soon.…
This hotel was excellent. Check in experience was very professional and correct. We had a wonderful stay there. Service was at top level and staff were very welcoming. Food and drinks were also very good. The breakfast buffet could be a bit better for the price they charged, they should add more variety of food. Pools were heated and beach chairs were always available. Overall stay experience was Very Good and Relaxing without any issues, very smooth. Good job to the management team for keeping up the great quality and service at this property.
