Stayed for several days. At first glance the neighborhood looked a bit rough, but we walked late at night to local restaurants and didn't have any problems at all. Eat where the locals eat and you'll find great authentic food. Accommodations were top notch. Host were friendly and informative, sweet little private pool to cool off in. 5 Stars!

We had stayed four nights at Los Alcatraces a week ago. The rooms were impeccably clean and quite charming. The courtyard area, although a bit small, was a great place to relax and take a quick dip in the pool. Our host, Greg and Silvia were friendly and helpful as to how to navigate around Cozumel. We truly enjoyed our...

Great find in Cozumel. This place was perfect for us. Really nice accommodations and even a private pool. We walked to town and the beach everyday. Never used a cab except from and back to the airport. Nice to have the daily maid service too. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Cozumel. The owners Silvia and...

We enjoyed our stay with Silvia and Greg, great accommodation, clean, comfortable and private. Perfect location within walking distance of town. Couldn't ask for more. Didn't use the pool, but looked inviting.

Los Alcatraces was a great place to stay in Cozumel! As others have mentioned, there are only 2 rooms in the back of the house - ours was a separate cabana that was large, clean, and very comfortable. Silvia was very helpful with information when we arrived, and she and Greg were available if you needed anything. I didn't really...

We stayed here for 8 nights, and really enjoyed having this as our pied-à-terre in Cozumel. Greg and Silvia are great hosts with lots of advice, and their animals were a delightful part of our days. We enjoyed having coffee in the mornings out back (we also bought some fruit, bread and peanut butter to have in the mornings and...

We stayed a week with Los Alcatraces at the beginning of a 3 week trip. The room was nice and large and very clean. We loved our little visits with Rosa every morning and got us through the withdrawal of missing our dog. The pool in the back is very refreshing and we enjoyed sitting around reading our books in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sandy beaches, stunning sunsets, and beautiful blue waters. All are on vibrant display at our tropical guest house at Los Alcatraces on Cozumel, Mexico’s largest Caribbean island. Perfect for a romantic getaway, our accommodations give you the privacy and safety of your own place, plus the convenience of having knowledgeable hosts on-site. Structured like a small boutique Hotel, each of our two en-suite bedrooms have their own private entrance. Guests share the pool, garden, and covered patio. HOTEL QUALITY WITH THE COMFORTS OF HOME The bedroom features a queen-sized bed with butter soft, 1000-thread count Egyptian cotton linens you can sink into after a long day. There is plenty of closet space for you to store your belongings as well as a locked safe for your more precious items. For an extra jolt in the morning, brew a fresh cup of organic coffee from Chiapas in the comfort of your own room. The en-suite bathroom is stocked with toiletries and towels so you don’t need to worry about taking up space in your suitcase! THE GREAT OUTDOORS...AND WE MEAN GREAT! Our relaxing garden is the perfect backdrop to start your day, watching hummingbirds whilst you sip your morning coffee. Since the average daily temperature in Cozumel is 75°F (24°C) or higher year-round, you’ll want to take a dip in our refreshing pool to cool down. We also have lounge chairs for you to work on your tan, too. If you would rather explore the Technicolor coral reefs in the Caribbean, we also have a rinse tank and clothesline to wash and dry your scuba gear after a busy day of diving. THE REAL COZUMEL Our guest house is located within walking distance of the town center. We’re just far enough away from all of the tourists to give you a taste of the real Cozumel. You can mingle with the locals at nearby markets and enjoy authentic cuisine. Cozumel is a scuba diver’s paradise! The island offers an array of beaches (many of the “iron-shore” variety), each teeming with intricate coral reefs and endless sightings of beautiful marine life. If you’re looking for a more relaxing experience on the beach, head over to a Beach Club. For a small fee, you can rent a lounge chair and unwind under the shade of a thatched roof. Whether you’re coming to get away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, or to explore the beauty Cozumel has to offer, we are here to assist you every step of the way. ... more   less
