We chose this hotel for our short stay on Isla (3 days) after a week in Cancun entirely based on Tripadvisor.com reviews. That decision proved to be a very good one in that my family was thrilled with the hotel and my kids (12, 9 and 9) all actually said when we arrived that they liked the hotel BETTER than...

I chose this hotel in a large part based on the ratings from past travelers and the fact that they had made the roof into a deck. We arrived at night on a full moon, we headed up to the roof and cracked bottle of wine and let the warm breeze caress us, it was great. I can remember the...

Hotel Las Palmas is a wonderful place to stay on Isla Mujeres. The owners, Kate and Safari, make you feel instantly welcome and treat you like one of the family. Their advice on where to go and what to do (and what not to do) made all the difference. Very close to the beach, the main street and all the...

Within just 2-3 mins you are on an amazing beach, just over the road the most delicioius food is served to be either eaten there or delivered to the hotel ( if you are on a budget then i highly recommend the Torta de pollo at 20 pesos!), The main thoroughfare is literally a few metres away and boasts amazing...

Had a great time staying at Hotel Las Palmas. The hotel was clean and simple with a great roof top deck. Additionally, the hotel is right across the street from 4 fantastic local loncherias. All that said the main reason I am writing a review is that the hosts (Safari and Kate) were extremely welcoming and helpful. They had great...

Our family (2 adults, 2 teenage girls) stayed here last week for 4 nights, and we could not have asked for a more perfect hotel! It's hard to even describe all the positives, but I'll hit the highlights: 1. The location is ideal: walking distance to everything in town, a couple of short blocks to the best beach and great...

It took me a few months to get to it., but I had to write and say that this hotel is a truly amazing place. The hosts, Kate and Sufari, are warm and inviting, and go out of their way to ensure that you have everything that you need, and are always available for questions about the island. And Cochito,...

My wife and I had a terrible experience staying at this hotel. Although I would say it was more like hostel or "bed and breakfast" (without the breakfast). It was extremly loud and with very un-proffessional service. The owners and their friends wondered about the place as though it was a personal gathering space. Many times in the court yard...

My husband, my 3 year old daughter, and I happened upon this quirky little hotel while wandering the streets of Isla Mujeres one day. Safari greeted us with her beautiful smile and invited us in to take a look at the hotel, even though we already had a place to stay. By the end of our 'tour' of the hotel,...

Kudos to Las Palmas: Jean, our lovely British hostess, and owners Safari, Ivan, and little Dania. They welcomed us, tutored us in the best of Isla, shared and loaned what they had (snorkeling equipment, sunscreen, cooking utensils) and treated us like family. Perfect location: close to downtown and the beach! We felt very safe here and had the most relaxing...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Las Palmas is your home away from home on Isla Mujeres, tucked away from the hustle-bustle of Cancun. We are a family run hotel (three generations of women, mother-daughter and grand-daughter). Naturally, our place is a very unpretentious accommodation with a casual, friendly atmosphere. We have many comfy communal areas, including a rooftop with a plunge pool. You'll find lounge chairs, hammocks, and tables with chairs to welcome you after a day at the beach - possibly an afternoon siesta. Our communal kitchen is also on the terrace and fully equipped. Our shaded deck on our second level, overlooking the street and is a great spot for people watching or reading a good book.We are located in the heart of the downtown. The beautiful turquoise of the Caribbean and powdery sand beach at Playa Norte are a block away (5 min walk). Just around the corner is Hidalgo Avenue, filled with cuisine from all over the world, live music, and friendly locals and tourists alike. We're directly across from the municipal market with four "loncheria" eating stalls, housing tasty, economical breakfast-lunch meals, as well as fresh squeezed juices. We have a hotel dog, Cachito (hypoallergenic, rasta-hair poodle) who is always ready for a stroll. ... more   less
