Pros: Reasonably priced; perfectly located two blocks from the Grand Plaza and two blocks from lively Santa Lucia square; very friendly staff; standard room is quite large for a downtown hotel; a.c. worked great; hot water and pressure worked great; two complimentary bottles of water...More
A pleasant and centrally located hotel in Merida. There is a nice open reception square, which felt cool after the heat of Merida. Friendly staff. When you check in, they give you a key and a tv remote - a first for me!!
while visiting Merida, we stayed in this hotel and used it as our base of operations, it is very close to the plaza and a wealth of very good restaurants, we found the hotel bar/restaurant very good for a quick simple meal. the hotel staff...More

We apologize for the bad experience you had with the waiters, after the restaurant's change a few months ago there has been perhaps too much staff rotation.
We thank you for your lovely comments about the hotel and understand the importance of being...More
The hotel is situated on a good location and you can walk to most attractions and restaurants. The staffs were great, and most willing to provide assistance. Because it's an old hotel, the room looks run down. The air conditioning was loud, there was some...More

See answers provided below. If the questions raised are a major concern I suggest rethinking. This is a lovely, comfortable, clean and friendly hotel with all the character of a renovated Mexican mansion. It's not a Ritz or a Four Seasons, but we'd certainly return. Also, the location is unbeatable and noise was not an issue in our corner room in an upper floor.

We did not pay to have breakfast included, and I'm glad! We ate at the hotel restaurant the first day, but found lots of better and less expensive places nearby. Our favorite was Cafeteria Pop which had better coffee and a full egg breakfast (like huevos rancheros, for example) with juice or fruit, coffee, and toast for just around 50 pesos (less than $3). Another good place was right across the street Gourmet Cafe Molina, I think it was-- it seems like it's a chain however. Nevertheless, the coffee was better there, too. The mole enchiladas were very tasty. Avoid at all costs the Cuban place on the corner of Calle 55 and Calle 62--worst coffee ever! They have a huge roaster going in the window, but that's just for show. The coffee tasted like Nescafé, the glasses were filthy, and the service was snarky. Many places within a block or two offer specials for breakfast, so it's easy to go out and try different restaurants each day.
