Nuik Casa Tropical in Merida is a small oasis of peace and tranquility that I cannot recommend.
The owner welcomed us with extreme availability and kindness, giving us directions and advice for visiting the city and the surrounding areas.
The rooms are furnished minimally but in an absolutely typical and modern way. Breakfast served with freshly prepared dishes (fruit plates, omelettes, etc.) as well as bread and jam, yogurt, etc.

At first glance, one wonders if the GPS has not made a mistake, a very clean red ocher face contrasts with the environment which does not look like much. Crossing the front door is entering a country haven. The owner, a Spanish decorator, created this micro hotel from scratch with a few rooms. Everything was done with great taste. The rooms, all air-conditioned, overlook a garden with swimming pool. Isolated from the outside world, it is the perfect place to relax or visit the city center 1.5 km away. Car or taxi required. Beautiful area.

Google Maps brought us to our destination. Without this guide we would not have found the beautiful little boutique hotel! Three nights here were great. Claudia, the host, is really nice and helpful. Great restaurant tips!

This hotel is truly a hidden gem, surprising guests with its stunning design behind an unassuming façade. The interior, including the garden and pool, is absolutely gorgeous – just as beautiful as the photos, if not more. It’s a great place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring.
The location is convenient for exploring Mérida; it’s about a 20-30 minute walk to the city center, or you can take a quick taxi or Uber. While the street itself isn’t particularly charming, we always felt safe, and the local community is very friendly.
While we appreciated many aspects of the hotel, there were a few things that impacted our stay:
• Noise: The neighbors’ dogs were very loud in the mornings, which made it hard to sleep in.
• Shower: The shower in our room didn’t get warm, and the water pressure was too low to wash hair comfortably.
• Smell: Our room had a slightly musty smell. We understand this might be due to the high humidity in the area, but we didn’t encounter this issue elsewhere during our trip. Perhaps a dehumidifier could help improve this.
• Breakfast: While breakfast was fine, it wasn’t particularly memorable. A few enhancements here could really elevate the experience.
For guests with allergies, it’s worth noting that there are cats on the property and they didn’t make an effort to ask about food allergies which left me eating only scrambled eggs for three days straight. Communication with the staff was smooth, and their recommendations for exploring Mérida were very helpful and appreciated.
Overall, this hotel is beautifully designed and offers a peaceful retreat. However, a few adjustments would make it even better. With improvements to some of the facilities and amenities, this place has the potential to be truly outstanding.

Fabulous guest room, a small oasis of greenery furnished with great taste, very quiet. Warm welcome by Oliver and his mother, very good breakfast and large room, good bedding..., a great address in Merida, we loved it!
