Recently stayed at Hostel Playa for the third time and I've finally gotten around to writing a review. Mario, Leah (?) and their staff work hard to provide a fun and clean hostel. They are the type of people who seem to love what they do. They are generous people, treating the guests to a nightly happy hour and free...

I stayed here for BPM Festival! Mario and Leah are the best hosts. They truly made me feel at home and made me feel like they cared for me and my comfort. We even had a little get together at the hostel on my last night with people from around the world and Mario gave us a very good, smooth...

Location: Bit out of the action which I actually preferred. Awesome to be across the road from Walmart! Cleanliness: Very clean Helpfulness: Mario, the owner is such a sweet man, game me a tour of the place & made me feel very welcome. Activities: We had a BBQ one night which was cool. I missed a Cenote trip & wished...

Don't miss out on this hostel. It's perfect for backpackers. The staff was super friendly. They had maids come in and clean everyday. It is super safe. The location is fantastic as it's close to restaurants and right across the street from Wal-Mart. The owner is awesome, he brought in a mariachi band one night and we all had Tequila....

I´ve been here twice. Once in 2007 and again in 2013. Both times I really liked it. It has everything you really need in a hostel. Large common area where you can hang out and meet other travelers. Staff is friendly and the location is perfect, you can just jump over the street to Wall mart to pick up something...

I spent 9 nights at this hostel. Facilities where nice and clean, and the staff was specially useful and friendly!! It is near everything you have to see in Playa: beaches, 5th avenue... They organize bbqs, and parties to help guests meet people. I'm will definitely stay there again!

Had heard great things about this hostel and unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. It was very empty with very little atmosphere when we stayed, which is a shame as the communal areas are excellent with loads of hammocks, seating, a pool and roof terrace. The rooms are very basic and a bit rough around the edges but clean enough....

Very clean hostel with aircon available for an extra 30 pesos. Plenty of bathroom facilities which were also very clean. Cleaning staff cleaned bedrooms every day and remade beds (although you make your own when you arrive). Towels also provided free of charge. When I stayed, the hostel was very quiet and there wasn't much atmosphere - think I just...

this place is bad. shouldn't have paid for the room before we saw it. stains on the wall, open to the road (no windows on our room just open holes covered by fly wire) and no air con which is a killer in a town that in August is about 40degrees. They make you pay before you discover this, then...
