Gorgeous setting. Sofie at the reception was very friendly and accommodating. There were a lot of nice touches. Like the small water basin for rinsing your sandy feet by the door to our private bungalow. The canopy bed was very romantic. The roar of the nearby ocean, and the breeze was fantastic. We checked a few other places before landing...

We spent a week at Playa Mambo over Christmas. The place is small, quiet and hospitable. The restaurant staff (Valento) and newly hired hotel staff (Sophie) were so nice and accommodated to all of our needs. We had our 20 month old daughter with us and she was able to nap in peace in the crib that the hotel provided....

Playa Mambo was great. It is one of the "eco-cabanas" literally on the beach in Tulum. I have not stayed at others, but did some research, got recommendations, and talked to people when I was there. It is slightly down the beach (south-ish) relative to the strip of hotels, but easy to walk to pretty much every restaurant or place...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Playa Mambo for 5 nights and we had the best experience ever! We originally booked our stay with another hotel but they were experiencing a power outage so they referred us to Playa Mambo. I was a bit skeptical at first but my boyfriend and I are glad that we got to stay at...

Amazing staff, so friendly and attentive. The location was perfect. Such great vibes here! Relaxing and quiet, convenient location, perfect for couples. Close to some really great restaurants and bars. Food here was simple, quick, cheap and delicious. Nice healthy free breakfast served daily. Loved it and will be back. The only slight issue we had was with the wifi...

Tulum is a terribly expensive place to visit, so Playa Mambo seemed like a good option that wouldn't break the budget. Unfortunately, what you get for the money is not worth it. We paid $150 a night for the Ocre Cabana. Cash only - extremely inconvenient. It was super hot, full of bugs, and mice even got into our bags...

We stayed at Playa Mambo for three nights and had wished we could have stayed much longer. We are a family with two small kids and had the large bungalow in front of the beach. Fantastic ocean view! The regular bungalows are quite small. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful! While we were there they were renovating and upgrading...

Dear Erika, It was such a pleasure to have you and your divine kids here with us. We continue as unobtrusively as we can the upgrade work to make it even more beautiful. Yes, you should have stayed longer!

We did not have rooms at playa mambo, but ate breakfast and borrowed their sun beds during our stay in Tulum. Due to the lovely staff this became our "second home". Viktoria, the manager was from Sweden and spoke very well English. She was able to give us great restaurant and activity tips. The owners were great and did everything...

location and beach is perfect - bed is super comfy! We loved getting out of our cabana and straight onto the beach. Only real negative: Most everything in Tulum is cash only, and the ATMSs rarely work. Not the end of the world, but for places charging close to $300 per night, I think they should start taking credit cards....
