This is a "retro review" from several years ago, not meant to add to the negativity, but to clarify what type of place it is. We are NOT high maintenance travelers, and were looking so forward to being here for the week and in no way expected a hotel experience. However, when we got there, and were sent to our...

My wife and I were at Copal three years ago. It was at a time of some major transsion for the resort. But we fell in love with the simplicity of the place. No electric, was great the candles were very romantic . We walked to town for food. We were there for 5 days. We love the fact that...

This is not a current review, but one reflective of our experience a long time ago. My experience at Cabanas Cobal dates back 7 years. The cabana's were clean, well kept, and the sea view cabanas had marvelous views of the water, with sea breezes flowing through. The restaurant was open at that time, and we had some great breakfasts....Mexican...

In the first place, the website does not have enough photos of the cabins, and the ones they have are from the one big cabin. So don't get too excited about your room if you are not staying in that one. My cabin, the king seaview, didn't have a door for the bathroom, so it wasn't the most romantic experience....

Wow what a nice place to take it easy and just relax on the beach! The beach is pretty small but really nice! And the water is warm! There is also a spot on the beach that is clothing optional. There is no electricity there only candles :) It changes you from your every day life! Vladimir at the lobby...

i had great expectations about going there. i like the eco character but providing us with a place that is more or less a hostel for charging us luxury prices. no shelfs or anything to put your stuff on to...everything was on the floor. breakfast was served after 8 somewhen and there seemed to be no need to assist guests...

This was my first visit to Mexico and I'm glad I choose this hotel..the staff and the manager Roberts are very friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. The beach is nice and service good and they provided me with any possible tips about tours etc I needed to make my stay great. Definitely place to visit!

I have been to Copal three times over the past few years, thoroughly enjoying each stay. But my last visit, in January 2013, was disappointing. I had stayed at Copal and Zahra, which is just down the road and owned by the same parent company (EcoTulum), on each of three previous trips to Quintana Roo. My wife and I generally...

I have been to Cabanas Copal 3xs before for different reasons. I had amazing experiences each time I have come. I came down with my mom because I wanted to show her what a beautiful place Tulum was and how great Cabanas Copal was. When we were shown to our cabana I was so happy with the choice of the...

“Azulik rooms offer better size and location than those of Copal (but on the same site. They offer Spa services which we didn't use this time but did last time and they were well priced and very professional.”
RalphandJan, 6 Feb 2014 | Read review
“You definitely want to select a Sea View room (not Partial Sea View) because you'll get a much better breeze coming in off the sea, which will make for a much more pleasant night's sleep.”
Trey_Reid, 16 Jul 2013 | Read review
“The only copal room I would consider would be La Casitta - but you have a rusted chain link fence right next to your room and no beach access unless you go wandering around and down through Azulik's cabana's private access - which you disrupt the privacy of someone who "paid" to have a private entrance to the beach.”
