I had been doing a few weeks of traveling and decided to stay in Tulum for a few days of full relaxation before returning home. I chose this hotel because I thought the pictures online were so interesting. The pictures are definitely true to what...More
In my 25 years of traveling I have never experienced such a consistently depressing and mediocre place. Let's begin with the receptionist and staff who barely said "hello", never once did they smile or make us feel welcome. That's not normal in Mexico.
Breathtakingly beautiful views. Very authentic rooms and layout. Quite possibly the perfect hotel if not for construction next door(which will hopefully end since we're planning on returning every year!). Tanya, the host, was fantastic- the mother Teresa of the hospitality business. All in all, even...More
The property is beautiful. The beach is beautiful. However during my entire trip there was construction going on. Constant banging from next door from 9am till late in the afternoon so no rest. Then they were renovating the room next to me so constant construction...More
The rooms are really nice (better are the rooms by the sea). Breakfast really tasty, friendly staff, nice small beach. Bike rental and many bars and restaurants are next to the hotel. Unfortunately missing air condition makes the room very uncomfortable because it was to...More

No air conditioner. We were there the last week of July and, although it was hot as hades, the ocean breeze kept the room comfortable. I can't speak for the "jungle side" rooms, which may not have the breeze. Once we got off the water, the temperature was very different (i.e. sweltering!) I suspect that is why the "jungle side" of the road is mostly populated by shops and restaurants, and the hotels are on the ocean side.
The ocean and beach were awesome! It was very "swimmable". It is on a cove with a sandy beach book-ended by outcroppings of rocks. I also read reviews about seaweed issues in the water but we didn't have a problem. The sand was white and the water was clear and blue. My husband, who has traveled more extensively than me, said Tulum had the nicest beaches he's seen in the Caribbean. Yours is a good question, though, because a few of the hotels (even luxury hotels) we visited while there had little or no beach, just pools and rocky coastline. Have a great trip!
