Charming, off beat, modern, different, awesome, romantic and the most special place. Who wants to ever stay in an hotel, when you can stay in a place like Bramasole. Melanie is welcoming and the staff so friendly. Who wants to leave such a magical place when you can eat in your own little suite or in the most romantic cabin on...

With attention to detail and a warm homeliness this is an excellent getaway spot. The rooms are very comfortable and serviced beyond expectation (especially the daily supply of home-style rusks!) Breakfast is a feast. The location and surrounds are really beautiful. This is a rare gem.

Arriving late after a busy work day, one feels the stresses of the day dissolve as you drive over the dam to this beautiful spot. It oozes relaxation, and our room overlooking the dam was beautiful, big and well-equipped with everything you'd need for self-catering. We'd asked for dinner (and it was included on our invoice) but when we arrived...

What a pity we could only spend one night at this stunning place. The setting is spectacular, as is the architecture. Our room was large and beautifully furnished. The entire place is furnished in a tasteful and quirky style. The breakfast was very good too. Well done to the owners.

Physically, the guesthouse is excellent. The drive down dusty roads gives the feeling of "getting away from it all" & the access, across a high dam wall, with the Lodge reflected on the water, has real appeal. The check-in was brisk & functional, with very little hospitality & warmth. The building has charm, interest & the decor is a little...

We stayed for one night at Bramasole on our way from Johannesburg to the Kruger National Park. The three rooms we booked were very well arranged for a family, tastefully decorated and well heated for the winter night. The most impressive feature was the sumptuous space in the rooms. The breakfast was nicely done according to our preferences recorded on...

Simply one of the best places we have stayed in. Exceptional rooms, great breakfast, awesome views and great staff. Wi-Fi access is free and extremely fast - very impressive. Self catering is an option however we went into town approx. 13kms for dinner at the Red Plate. There are several other options for dinner and lunches around the area. This...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At Bramasole, you can do as much or as little as you like. If you feel like unwinding, you can curl up next to a crackling fireplace and lose yourself in a novel. Explore the magnificent forest or try out the many hikes in the area. If you feel like tussling with 'the big one', trout fishing is also an option. Situated at the very edge of a lake, Bramasole cuts an imposing figure complete with an indigenous forest halo. The precarious approach along the narrow dam wall adds to the drama of the approach as the full extent of the building reveals itself. The interior has a surprise of its own, as this fairly simple shed exterior makes way for a luxurious interior with an enormous double volume space bathed in natural sunlight from the skylights. No attempt was made to hide the trusses which form part of this very unusual interior space which is dominated by a central fireplace. The rooms are themed from regions around the world from the luxurious Paris apartment to the cosy "Delft" room spinning around the world to Venice, Morocco, Egypt, Africa and the east - Jade. The Paris apartment is a luxurious room with views into the forest and over the lake with an open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area and a braai patio. The views into the forest are awesome with trees overhead lapping at the eaves. We tried to be extremely subtle with the décor, avoiding corny memorabilia. Bramasole has used colour and texture to blend an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture and décor in the house, as well as the guesthouse. Reclaimed parquet flooring (from the old Schul in Polokwane) has been re-used as wall cladding and counter surfaces giving a warm textured look to most of the rooms. ... more   less
