Beautiful old restored castle. A maze of corridors and stairways! We stayed for one night and loved it! The food was amazing, the dining room perhaps lacking ambiance. The bar is a quirky and unique. A hen party was there at the same time and while the y certainly livened up the sing-song in the bar they didn't intrude on...

I stayed here for my mum's birthday for an overnight stay. I believe they had been closed for the previous few months and had undergone some renovations, but there was still a lot to do with the place - some of the walls were bare where paintings were to go up, but that didn't really bother us. There also seemed...

My husband and I just did a ten day trip to Ireland. While we were there we stayed two nights here at Kinnitty Castle Hotel. It was our first time being a 'real' castle. It dates back to 1039...wow. You walk in the front entrance and you immediately feel that it's a castle. The front desk staff were very nice,...

With my Mum turning 70, we had a family meal for 17 people. She didn't want a party so we had the meal at Kinnitty castle with a set menu of 3 starters (Potato & Leek soup, Scallops and Carpaccio) with 3 mains (Sirloin Steak, Sea Bass and a vegetarian Quinoa dish) and 3 desserts (3 scoops of Ice Cream,...

I must admit, reading some of the negative reviews about this hotel initially made me a little apprehensive about booking it for a weekend stay for me and my partner. From the moment I arrived, the warm and inviting hospitality just oozed. I arrived before my partner early on the Saturday afternoon and took advantage of a nice relaxing walk...

Many many thanks to the wonderful staff and management at kinnitty castle. We had our little girl's Christening last sat and the service, setting, food and everything in general was way beyond anything we expected. The venue is so beautiful, library and dungeon bar full of atmosphere, band that night fantastic. We would have no hesitation in recommending kinnitty castle...

as a surprise for my mothers birthday my sister & I booked the overnight stay with dinner option at Kinitty castle. We were greeted by some of the friendliest & helpful staff I have met in the travel industry. The dinner was flavoursome & the portion size was perfect. Three members of staff who really made the stay were Anne...

Loved this hotel and we cannot wait to go back!!! Staff are extremely pleasant and the hotel was beyond our expectations. The food was good too as we have the afternoon tea and it was a beautiful treat! No tv in any rooms but this added to the relaxation of the trip. The only downfall was no tea or coffee...

I can honestly say I have never stayed at such a disgraceful hotel. The room was cold and had a small electric heater you could use which we had to leave on and had to sleep in a jumper to keep warm. As for the room it self there was no tv. I rang reception and said the tv was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kinnitty Castle, is close to the picturesque village of Kinnitty, Co. Offaly set beautifully against a backdrop of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. The Castle has a long and turbulent history. Dating originally from 1209, Kinnitty was destroyed and rebuilt not once but twice and yet it retains character and oozes charm. Kinnity is in a great location only 90 minutes from Dublin and is a great stop off point for journeys west or southwards.
