Detailed Reviews
Really can’t fault this place! We visited with our two young children (1 year and 4 years) and the team at Dutch Bungalow were so kind and helpful. Cooking bland food for the children, serving us fresh lime soda on the balcony, arranging tuk tuk rides to lovely tourist sites. The highlight for us was the pool which was scrupulously clean - a gentleman changed the filter daily and the water was crystal clear. Really such a great feature and so soothing after a day in the diary hot street soaking in the delights of Kerala. Another lovely thing about the Dutch Bungalow was it’s proximity to Oceanos and Roti - two excellent restaurants. But you don’t need them... the team in the kitchen make sensational food too! Spoilt for choice. Thank you all so so much for your hospitality. A wonderful holiday! Happy memories of Fort Kochi!

Unobtrusive, understated and an absolute gem. Booked a weekend stay at the Abad Dutch Bungalow property as a birthday treat & can't thank myself enough for choosing this property:) Beautiful hotel, the interiors are absolutely lovely- this is a heritage property and the care taken to maintain this property is obvious in how well maintained and clean it is, not to mention gorgeous interiors full of antique teakwood furniture; it really strikes the right balance between old world style and contemporary customer service. Jomy who managed the property was very considerate about attending to every query and request i had, and as a woman traveling alone, it meant a lot to have the staff take so much care of me as a customer. A big thank you to Jomy, and all the kitchen staff who were attentive and really lovely. Definitely my new favourite hotel in Fort Kochi for future trips, please don't miss this gem. And the swimming pool inside the property is just an added bonus.

Lovely heritage hotel in a quiet location but close to the major attractions of Fort Kochi. We had a very large bedroom which was spotlessly clean and still had loads of space after adding a third bed for our child. Room came with a small separate sitting room with a sofa & fridge plus an outdoor balcony seating area overlooking the swimming pool.
We ate four times in the restaurant where the food was good, safe to eat and the menu offered both Indian and western food. A meal for three with side dishes, a huge chocolate milkshake and two large bottles of water cost us around £15 in total. Waiters and reception staff were all friendly and helpful. Chefs are quite slow to cook your meals and your group tend to each receive their meals at different times, but all the food is freshly cooked to order.

Clean, nice heritage property with lovely staff and pool, but expensive for what it is. Breakfast is very very limited and the ‘extras’ are not there (eg kettle, hair dryer).
Take care because they ( it is owned by Abad Hotels) have charged us twice and despite repeated requests we have not had the extra money refunded - 26 days and counting! Watch your bank account!

Overall, a very friendly, clean hotel with helpful staff. Breakfast here was good and there was an average selection to choose from. We also ate dinner at the hotel one evening and had a fish platter, which was very tasty. The hotel has quite a rustic charm, due to the heritage style - it was nice to stay in a hotel with a bit of character. The pool was very nice, but it would have been better if there were more sun loungers to use as there were only 4, which were mostly busy and towels all used and not refreshed.
We felt that the hotel did not live up to the 4 star rating. Although charming, the hotel was a little run down, especially the bathroom. The shower didn't have much hot water either. This was the first hotel we stayed in on our holiday to Kerala, so we were very jet lagged. That first night (9:50pm) we received a loud phone call to our room requesting we bring a hairdryer to reception as another guest had complained that they hadn't got one. This ruined our experience at this hotel as we felt it was very unprofessional to bother us at that hour. Rummaging around to find a hairdryer for another guest in a delirious, tired and startled state wasn't the most relaxing start to the holiday. Room didn't have much furniture for clothes and wasn't comfortable to lounge in. There was also no alcohol, but that wasn't too much of a problem for us ;)

We stayed at this property for 2 days on New year. Great property, as the name suggests Heritage property. We had booked Heritage Room, room is big, all wood interiors, wall, ceiling, floor. Bed and other amenities in the room is good. Tea/Coffee is not on individual rooms placed on common hall, which is not an inconvenience. Its very near to pool, one can take a coffee and can sit near the pool and relax. The pool is another highlight, small shallow family pool with enough depth for a quick swim for adults. My 8 year old daughter was enjoying it very much.
We had breakfast and NY eve dinner from the property. Breakfast spread is good enough for a lazy day breakfast. Tea/Coffee is served on table. The chefs prepared us Dosa and Chutney even though it was not in menu. We had NY eve Dinner with live music. The food and arrangements was nice. There were too many items on menu.
Our trip to Fort Kochi was to see the Cochin NY Carnival, which starts around Xmas and finishes with burning of effigy called as "Pappanji" (meaning old man in Portuguese) on 1st 12 AM. The location of property is a stone throw away from here. If you are looking to visit fort Kochi to visit this, this is one of the best locations. Otherwise also the location is near to all the Fort Kochi attractions.
Overall a very good experience and I recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the delightful establishment in mid January during a trip to India, and was allocated a heritage mini-suite on the ground floor which was very pleasant. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the pool and pool side restaurant are a delightful sanctuary from the heat and bustle of touring in Cochin. Thank you for a delightful stay.

This hotel is a beautiful heritage property located in historic Fort Kochi. It has magnificent heritage rooms, is well located, excellent swimming pool but the most important thing is the service. This hotel is very well run by Manager Mr Jomy Joseph. As agents, we had always used another property but liked the look of Dutch Bungalow. Mr Joseph met our clients personally on arrival, managed an upgrade our client and ensured the stay was comfortable and very service oriented. It was a great stay thanks to The kindness and professionalism of Mr Joseph.
Thank you to Dutch Bungalow and Mr Jomy Joseph!

We stayed in Dutch Bungalow during the New Year time and I would say it was mostly a good experience.
It's a heritage property with an old world charm. The room was well maintained (though a little small) and comfy with an additional living room attached to it. The bathroom was huge though. There was a common balcony overlooking the pool and a common room (that was huge) with a beautiful swing and a bookshelf full of books. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good location, close to many good cafes and restaurants and also at just 5 mins walk away from Fort Kochi Beach.
The only thing that we did not like much is the food. Breakfast spread was small yet okay, but then it lacked in hygiene. I could see flies on the muffin the 2nd day we went for breakfast. Also, as it was new year time, they had made it mandatory to have gala dinner for the guests. Honestly, this was the most substandard Gala dinner I ever had. The food was almost cold by 8:30pm, the starters did not have any mushroom or paneer or chicken dishes (but fish and beef were there). And one of the staff even argued that since most people in Kerala have beef and also people come to Kerala for seafood, that was justified. The main course was limited and the desert were not at all good except the okayish chocolate cake. Even the passion fruit drink got over, so they served it to one of us and then served something else to the other. This is not expected from a hotel of this category. You could very well charge a little more and make it a better dinner spread.
So yes, if I ignore the food part, it is a good place to stay in Fort Kochi. And that is why I am giving it 4 instead of 5. I hope they make improvement in the food, because this place truly has the potential to be one of the best in Fort Kochi.

Excellent location to explore Kochi set in the Fort area and close to all attractions
This is a heritage hotel and has been updated tastefully to keep the feel. It can look tired and some decoration work would be beneficial. Our room was spacious with additional seating area. There was a communal kettle in the courtyard but the staff arranged for a kettle and cups etc for the room.
The water in our room was no more than tepid (almost cold) therefore showers were brief.
The staff were very helpful and friendly
Overall very happy here
