Old Courtyard Hotel is an authentic old Portuguese styled mansion centrally located in Fort Cochin. It has been renovated into a heritage hotel with 8 rooms suiting the architecture of the building. The rooms are furnished in colonial antique furniture on original wooden floors. All rooms are air conditioned, rooms have attached bathrooms, and we provide free wifi, laundry, travel desk. We have added a Jacuzzi pool to the guests to cool down. As a nine room property, we try to make the guests' experience more personalized with staff always ready to help. Our motto is that Fort Cochin is your Kitchen. We are surrounded by many options of where and what to eat. But if you feel like dining in , you can bring in or order food and have it at the lounge or Garden wherein you'd be provided with cutlery and crockery. This is a very private place only for room guests. Very centrally located to wherever you want to go in Fort Cochin. Come and stay with us and enjoy the privacy and calm.

What a special place! We stayed here for several nights and found the staff to be charming and helpful, our room was clean and full of character with wooden floors, lovely furniture and comfortble beds (covered with mosquito nets). This was my first visit to India and although we went on to stay in several places, it was hard to beat this hotel. Brekfast also really good with chef who is flexible and will cook according to needs (recommend the omelette). Lots to do and see nearby including crafts shops, beer and wine bar, good restaurants and walks near the beach. Staff recommended an early morning walk to see the local fishermen bring in their catches on the beach, very worthwhile.

As I was recouperating from an illness, I opted for a deluxe double for more room and a sitting area with fridge. Though they seem to be located on the wing facing Princess Street, the street noise dropped drapatically after 10 p.m.
This property was restored, rather than fully renovated, so some things may be limited....like spare outlets for chargers. Easy enough to unplug one bedside light for a charger. Lighting may be a little dim for any digital nomads. Restoration also meant when something goes wrong, it may take more effort to fix it. There became a problem with water to shower and taps for some rooms. I had water initially, but next morning...none. They were prompt to bring me a pitcher of water for hand washing, and within a couple of hours, they found a plumber to work on Diwali. After some head scratching and efforts, it was clear my room was going to require extensive work. They moved me up one floor and there was minimal impact to my stay. There was some noise while work was being done, but they kept me informed of expectations and apologized several times for the inconvenience...which it really wasn't.
Having a pool available was great for me as I didn't leave the property for long.
AC works well, beds are comfortable and location for convenience cannot be beat. However it also means you are in the thick of tuktuk driver sales pitches.
The owner was quick to respond to some enquiries and the manager was always helpful. The other staff were also helpful and quick with smiles and greetings.
I appreciated the character of the place, feeling almost like a guest in someone's home. The location cannot be beat for getting around old Fort Kochi and finding things to do, buy or eat.

The Old Courtyard Hotel is in an excellent location and is an older style Hotel with heaps of character, it is an old Indo-Portuguese architectural building, the floorboards are huge, and the furniture is so comfortable. We found the staff to be very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There are plenty of places to eat in the evening within walking distance, this hotel is in the centre of things in Fort Kochi, and an excellent place to stay. Not only are the hotel staff great but Meena at the Travel Desk is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, she made our stay all the more enjoyable. We can really recommend this hotel as a great place to stay.

For the second time, The Old Courtyard excelled!
Re-visited Cochin in January and was amazed that some of the staff and the owners remembered me.
The addition of a spa pool in the courtyard is fantastic to soak in the sun and relax after a day of touring and work.
Service is too attentive and to detail, offering a selection of herbal teas is most welcome and so is the lunch menu of the day. Had an excellent meal comprising of fresh vegetables in a home cooked style and the taste of the prawn curry still lingers! Thanks to all at the Old Courtyard for another great experience and shall re-visit in time.
Keep up what you are doing and good luck to Rose and Jacob for maintaining a property with such consistence !

Excellent in every respect. The hotel is located in a nicely restored historic building, very close to all of Fort Kochi's amenities and attractions. All the facilities are great, i.e. swimming pool, air conditioning, wi-fi, etc. The rooms are comfortable and appropriately furnished, with nice views on to the central courtyard. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The complimentary breakfast is tasty, and the hotel is excellent value for money. If you have mobility issues then ask for a room on the ground floor, where the rooms have step-free access.

Beautiful colonial building equipped with spacious rooms, traditional furniture and a lovely plunge pool. The location is ideal, within walking distance of a lot of landmarks (the Chinese fishing nets, colonial buildings, churches,…) and various shops and cafes. What makes this place special however is manager Paul and his staff. Paul is such a nice man who will brighten your day with his warm smile.

Heritage charm in the centre of town, great location to see the Chinese fishing nets and the local fishermen hand casting from the beach. Location is ideal for coffee shops, art galleries, small supermarket and restaurants all within 5 minutes walk. Hotel calm and small only 9 rooms makes a welcome change from the big chains. Small pool a cooling relief on a hot afternoon.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we are centrally located in Fort Cochin with almost everything worth visiting, a few minutes walk only. Being a small property, we always try our best to make it a calm oasis, from the normal day to day outside our walls. And our guests' privacy and safety is very important to us. With climate change, we put in the pool as the weather has really been warmer. We are happy that it is used and enjoyed.

Ordered 2 x set dinners on New Years Eve, only one other customer in. Had veg and non veg option - non veg (prawn curry) was very tasty - but only 3 small prawns in the meal, dhall and side veg and rice were all luke warm, which did not go down well, cold rice is not that palatable.
In a prime position but could not get any alcohol from in site hotel ...? - went to bar around the corner for that, in a prime position but not customer friendly...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We apologize for the lukewarm food. It will be advised to our staff. Regarding the beer and alcohol license, Kerala has peculiar laws , as each and every state and country would have . So for not serving alcohol on the premises we do not apologize for. One has to live in that country to understand and this is not the correct platform. There are many hotels in Kerala that do not serve alcohol. Unusual, for a foreigner to understand would be difficult. We hope you do stay with us in the rooms and would see and appreciate what we offer instead of just the restaurant. Sincerely, Manager

The Old Court Card is an old heritage hotel in the colonial-style. It is located in the center of Fort Kochin and is a very nice hotel. You should be aware, however, that you can hear almost everything through the walls. But we had very quiet neighbors so this wasn't a problem for us. There is a little pool in the inner courtyard, but unfortunately, there is no longer a tree in the patio.

The most notable feature is the wonderful staff. Everybody is super friendly and always extremely helpful. Especially Thomas, the receptionist and night porter, was always ready with a smile, and his dedication to the customer was absolutely amazing. He was there around the clock for us, so much so that we really wondered when he ever had a chance to sleep. He helped us in so many ways both large and small that we want to send him our sincere thanks for his extraordinary and charming support. He is truly a gem.

We highly recommend this nice hotel and its fantastic staff.

Dear Sir, Thank you for your very nice feedback. Yes, we lost the mango tree due to lightning. That is why we needed to change the ambiance in the courtyard. Thomas will definitely be informed of your great feedback on his service. And his dedication will be acknowledged. We hope to see you soon at the Old Courtyard Hotel. Sincerely, Manager

Nice, heritage hotel located at Princess street, Cochin. The beach is at a walking distance and has many nearby options for dinner.

I stayed here for one night on Christmas eve.

The room was spacious with wooden flooring, AC, antique table, wooden almirah. The bathroom was big too with 24 hour hot water and toiletries.

Few points to remember:

No covered parking, provisions for driver
The hotel does not cook, but they allow outside food in the premises (but not in rooms)
Quite far from airport

Overall decent stay
