I showed up in San Miguel de Allende without a reservation, and one of the more expensive hotels actually recommended this one as a slightly more economic choice. The room we got was so much different (and better!) than what they showed us upstairs, which was cheap and smelly. But our room was wonderful--especially for only $400 pesos/night ($31 US). Do not go to the Hotel d'Allende in San Miguel Allende. They make their hotel sound cheap and great on the website but it is a hole. Made us pay 2 nights in advance to hold the room and when we saw the place and asked for our $ back they refused. When we complained, they treated us very rudely,...

This place advertises itself as a great deal on the web and looks decent in the pictures. Don't be sucked in! It is not nearly as nice as other cheaper accomodations. The rooms are shabby and run down. This place doesn't take credit cards and made us deposit 2 nights in advance in order to hold the room. When we...
