At first glance this hotel looks like paradise. It's beautiful colonial buildings sit right on the bay surrounded by colorful cacti... But dig a little deeper and you'll see that Playa de Cortes needs some TLC. For starters, we killed two cockroaches (one each morning) in our ground floor room (both in the shower). You know if we killed two,...

We did not stay over night at the hotel this time, and the last time we stayed was thirty years ago. It appears not much has changed in that time, and the best rooms are probably still the junior suites (the "newest" rooms) back by the small beach and pier. The Brunch Buffet hasn't changed that much either. It's still...

This place was terrible, the staff was so rude. I booked a two bed junior suit with a beach view. When I got there they gave me one bed and not much of a beach view. I went back to the front desk and they gave me a different room but would not refund me the difference. I will never...

Stayed here for 4 nights I chose this place because it was close by to the plant where husband is doing some work, thinking of the beach and leisure areas they offer it seemed like a good option The hotel is nice, it is 81 years old ant it shows It definitely needs a complete make over, beds are hard...

Built in 1935 & opened in '36, lots of character. I love the architecture, but as seen in many Mexican locations the maintenance leaves a lot to be desired. English is spoken by the front desk & restaurant staff, which gets us by just fine.. Restaurant menu is short on selections but adequate and the food is decent. We flew...

Old and tired, dowdy even. All the profits from this operation, if any, go into the owners' pockets and not into improvements. No heat in the rooms and it's in the 50's at night. Fireplace but no fires allowed. Big signs in the parking lot that the hotel is not responsible for car break-ins. Rooms have cheap locks which any...

The rooms are clean, but they need an upgrade. The hacienda is very nice, and view of beach is too. I think by remodeling the rooms and bathrooms it will really increase its value. It was like staying at a Motel 8.

The Playa de Cortez hotel is a decent hotel but sadly not up to past standards of 20 years ago. We had a nice sea view suite but the furniture needs updating. Also the restaurant food was very mediocre. We did love the wood carvings of conquistadors in the bar and dining room.

The rooms were neat and clean. Could use coffee maker, fridge and a sealant around the door frame. It's a beautiful place...will return. The waiters at the restraunt...we're a little slow with the service. The breakfast buffet was awesome.

Went to Hermosillo to get a reservation for Hotel Cortes due to lack of phone service caused by heavy rains the week of August 9, 2015. Hotel Guarda is the parent, and they were very good at getting us a reservation. The hotel is located on the Sea of Cortez, in Guaymas, Mexico. Good location. The room was large, excellent...
