There is a lovely short walk to the beach and the nearby town Beer is fantastic. Very hilly so not for the infirm or if you are worried about driving down narrow country lanes. We...

So much more than we expected and the best restaurant (incl the food & service) we have experienced in the UK for many years. The staff here were so helpful and we were certainly made to feel like welcomed customers at all times. Certainly be going back

We've stayed here recently and its a fab place, the staff are super friendly and the rooms are all very modern and to a good standard. Its a great place if you want to get away from it all. The food is very good and somewhere we will definitely go back to again in the future.

During a short visit to England, our daughter booked Masons Arms, she couldn't have chosen better. The location is ideal, near the sea and beautiful countryside for walks. The rooms were comfortable and well kept. The outstanding factor was the high standard of service in the restaurant, pub and bar, by the courteous, friendly and obliging staff. Masons Arms is...

Stayed for three nights. The hotel is situated in a pretty and small Devon village, approached by very narrow winding lanes, and about five minutes from a pleasant beach. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was really good but pricey. The bedrooms facing the front suffer badly from noise with people just below the windows laughing...

Great place to stay, fabulous food. Lovely walk to the beach. The journey down to the village is through narrow lanes but on arrival it was somewhere to relax. The staff were friendly and the service was great.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling in the heart of Branscombe, one of Britain's most picturesque villages, is the award winning, 14th Century, The Masons Arms. This charming thatched Inn dates back to 1350 - a cider house turned country pub - and the men who cut the stone for Exeter Cathedral drank here, hence the name. With only a leisurely ten minute stroll to Branscombe Beach, The Masons Arms offers an ideal base to escape the stresses of modern life and enjoy the magical vista of sea, beaches and the spectacular walks offered by the ninety five miles of Devon and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. The authentic interiors ooze character with timber frames, low beamed ceilings, pine cladding, whitewashed walls and a huge roaring log fire. Our award winning Restaurant offers an exciting and creative menu in relaxed fine dining surroundings. The Masons Arms kitchen brigade are dedicated to sourcing the very best of local Dartmoor produce. The cooking is classy yet simple, perfect for a special meal or relaxing Country lunch. We serve as many as six locally brewed bitters and the finest wines from around the world. The 21 bedrooms at the Masons Arms Branscombe, are cosy, stylish and inviting, blending comfort with character. The Masons Arms has been awarded a FOUR STAR rating under the Inn category by Quality in Tourism. ... more   less
