A bit of a party resort as others have remarked. The service and staff was exceptional. The food was fine for the most part, breakfast and lunch buffets are solid, and the steak and Mexican themed restaurant are very good. The American themed restaurant was the worst dining experience weve had had, terrible service and the food order was completely wrong, outside of that the food isn't as bad as I was worried having read the reviews. Great views of the water, the pools are fun, the bartenders were outstanding. Wish they had more quick snack options in the evening. And wish the room selection was bit better, all said... decent

Hotel's Favourite
I really enjoyed my solo stay at the Rio Santa Fe. It was exactly what I was looking for. I was in Los Cabos for extensive dental work. This place was perfect for relaxing after sitting in the dentist chair all day. My check-in was smooth and easy. I received an upgrade and, because of some knee problems. They made sure the room was close to the elevator, and on a lower floor. It was also very close to the pools and the beach. Maid service was excellent. This place is really big. It’s a long way from the beach all the way to the main courtyard where four of the five restaurants are. The grounds are beautiful and well kept and walking through them is pleasant. The food is what’s to be expected at this price point. Everything was fresh, properly prepared, and well presented. No real luxury foods here. So don’t think you’re going to have a gourmet experience. That’s definitely not what this place is about. I really enjoyed the Asian restaurant which is a buffet. And the steak restaurant was decent. The main buffet and the breakfast buffets were very good. Lots of variety. There’s a bar in your room that gets restocked every day. It has beer in the fridge and then bottles of tequila, rum, gin, and vodka in dispensers. I went to three of the four pool bars as well as the sports bar in the main courtyard. All were great , whether I was having a mixed drink or just a shot or a glass of wine, service was excellent and the booze was medium level brand names. The pools were wonderful. All of them are infinity pools, looking out over the Pacific. The famous rock formation, the arch, is prominent on the seascape. There are lots of pleasure craft and cruise ships. Vendors on the beach below the infinity, pool are selling all the standard Mexico touristy crap they sell on every beach in Mexico. Check out was smooth and easy, as was arranging transport back to the airport.

We had stayed at the RIU Santa Fe in Cabos 7 or 8 years ago. It was a lovely family resort then and we had a wonderful time. They were building unit 8 while we were there. Bringing our son's family with three kids 7, 8, & 9 to Cabos in late Feb. this year, we thought this hotel would be perfect. We were extremely disappointed. The new addition of the RIU party area and the general drinking and loud noise atmosphere was NOT family friendly. Putting in a splash pool for kids was great to attract families, but the constant noise late at night in the hallways and when the parties were going on was horrible. Why would the check in put a family with kids in building 8? We were not told we could upgrade to a quieter room at check-in. Our room in unit 8 was impossible to sleep in when the RIU party (that was supposed to end at 9:30 but lasted to 10:30 and when the partiers next door continued their party in the hallway until well past midnight. The second time this happened we politely asked them to take the party elsewhere! Even moving to building 1 didn't solve the problem. Wedding parties were shouting in the halls and slamming doors all night. Two people in our party got sick during our stay and I am sure the lack of sleep contributed to that. I was also surprised that toward the end of our stay the resort was overrun with partying spring break kids. I couldn't believe this could happen in February, but they have spring break early at some schools we later found out. Sorry, we won't be returning. We have stayed at many RIUs and this was our worst experience. I am sorry that RIU has decided to cater to the partying crowd and not people who enjoy a beach vacation.

I really enjoyed my stay. My only issue was the scented toilet paper in the bathroom. Too many ppl have sensitive skin including me and so it kinda cause issues for me. Otherwise everything was great. One last thing. I’m not always sure the food placards were accurate which is important for ppl with dietary restrictions.

Excellent Service. Really enjoyed our stay. Hotel is huge and there is something for everyone. Riu parties, activities, and shows. If you want it quieter there is a pool and a bar for you. You want to be in the center of the action ,,, no problem there is lots to do. It is not for those mobility challenged but the staff will help get you to where you want to go.

The room garden view did not happen. I had view of Riu Palace. The room itself was nice. Everyday my room attendant left me a towel animal. One day she also left me fresh flowers. They listed 5 restaurants, which would mean you ordered from a menu. This was not true. The steakhouse only had two choices. The other 4 restaurants were buffet. All of the food was poor, overcooked and never warm. The 2 infinity pools with bars were always really crowded. The drinks were tasteless. By early afternoon, people were being wheeled out in wheelchairs, because they were too drunk to walk. People were throwing up also. The median was between 20 to 30. There were some older people who looked lost. If you are young and don't care about quality food, just want to drink and party, this is the place for you. I will never go back.

The RIU is the kind of place you have to visit to formulate an informed opinion. It is clearly a great place for 21 year olds who enjoy a lack of supervision, and while they accommodate kids, it isn’t the kind of place you want to bring a 10 year old. We saw multiple people being wheeled out of the bar area in wheelchairs (hopefully they received help), scantily clad people everywhere at all hours, and I guess the average customer there can’t have a conversation without constantly using cuss words (knowingly within ear shot of children). The food is average and available in epic proportions (where the sit down restaurants besides the Mexican restaurant are all best to avoid … especially the steakhouse), the pool towards the front of the property is nice, and the beach is great but you can’t use the water due to unsafe surf conditions year round. Being all inclusive, and while you can eat and drink all you want for free, they oddly make you pay for laundry and use of their pool tables. On the plus side, the rooms were clean and we have never had so much ice cream in our lives. Water taxis are available, but not all the drivers will go and the mount/dismount is a bit treacherous. Sprinklers are going all the time but there isn’t enough drainage. Oh, and there is an interesting lizard that lives near a tree by the pool and there are birds EVERYWHERE (that was fun). Food service was excellent and the weather in February is amazing.

My daughter got food poisoning from the veggie burger or the ice cream sundae in the American Country restaurant. The food is mediocre and they have few gluten-free options. If you want a spring break “college party” then you should go here, but not good for families and the parties are adults only. There is one fun pool and two crazy party person pools and a bunch of drunk pools. The rooms were fine but they have no conditioner in the showers. The body wash/shampoo? was like public bathroom soap and it smelled a lot like it. The maid service was fabulous and they cleaned up my daughter’s barf from the bathroom floor. They deserve a shout out 🎉!! The beach in front was nice but you can’t swim in the water because it’s too rough and you needed to pay the Water Taxi $20 to get to the marina where the water is calmer. The pool towel service was convenient. It is SUPER LOUD at night because of the parties and drunk people. The stairwells were not lit at night and were extremely dangerous. The bathroom next to the crazy party person pool next to the beach smelled ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING 🤢 🤮. The staff were working hard but didn’t seem too happy to be there. I understand that they must think that Americans are horrible people based on the clientele. My kids did like the piñata, but they should do it more often. My daughter loved the Kahoot! We saw several inebriated people barfing all over themselves at the pool by the beach. We also saw many people passing out and needing to be brought to their rooms in wheelchairs. One particularly large guy had to be carried up the stairs because they have no elevators.

Hotel/rooms/grounds/pools were immaculate! Food was decent- could always find something to eat even being a picky eater. Mattress/pillows were not the best - king was two doubles pushed together, pillows a little small. Staff was so friendly and helpful when needed!
