Just spent two nights at the Sun Bay Hotel, two adults and our dog. The dog was welcome in all public rooms (including the lounge) except the restaurant, understandably, although we were able to have dinner and breakfast with her in a lovely conservatory overlooking Hope Cove. Stunning location.Okay, the rooms are a bit dated and the food isn't going...

Stayed here twice now in July 2013 and again last week with friends to play golf at Thurlestone. Since last year price of room has gone up from £80 to £110!! Quite an increase and no improvements. Made this year's booking back in April for 3 twin rooms. Despite this, on arrival 2 of our group were given a family...

We booked a twin bedded room for 2 adults in April for 1 night in Sept. On arrival we were shown to a musty smelling Family Room (that's a joke) with 1 double bed and bunk beds. We were told there was no other room available! On checkout we asked for a reduction as this was not what we booked...

I have to concur with other reviewers as we too had a very disappointing evening meal at the Sunbay during our holiday the week prior to the August Bank Holiday. We normally stay at the Hotel and have stayed there many times over the years and have had some very enjoyable local produce meals. This year though we opted to...

Fantastic short stay at Sun Bay Hotel. Having searched the internet, we finally found this hotel. It boasted a great location and reasonable prices. After traveling down from London, we arrived at 'check in' time and were welcomed straight away. The hotel has a great lounge/bar which is open to late and a great restaurant, which offered a range of...

This was our 3rd visit to Sun Bay. The staff were attentive. Whilst most of the meals were fine, there are a couple of things that would have made them better....we had crab and prawn stack to start which could have done with a bit more salad with it, the fish pie came with no veg and the beef brisket...

Booked table for seven on a Thursday at the hotel booked for 7.30 eventually received our food one hour and ten minutes later.on making enquiries to the staff during this period we were constantly lied to such as food to be served in five minutes on five occassions. The table behind us had been waiting for food for one and...

I had stayed at Sun Bay for work locally, luckily work had payed for the hotel and not myself! I can only describe the rooms as 'a retirement home' within the room you are kindly given soap that again I can only describe as being in a condom raper. The shower is tiny! To turn the thing on you have...

After years of camping or staying in a caravan at Hope Cove we decided that this year we'd treat ourselves and stay at The Sun Bay Hotel for 3 nights, even though it was £110 per night!! We arrived on the Friday at 12:30 but were told that check in wouldn't be available till 2pm so decided to walk down...

Unfortunately we were disappointed by the Sun Bay hotel. This hotel is extremely overpriced for what it is. It has huge potential, in a beautiful location - the beach is a short walk away and the scenery is beautiful. We didn't spend much time in the hotel so it was fine for us.The hotel does appear to have had some...
