The Casona Rosa is an oasis blocks away from the center of downtown Morelia. The courtyard space--abundant with gorgeous succulents and such planted in local pottery--is a tranquil space to enjoy a morning coffee, an afternoon sun, or a nightly tequila. The staff at the Casona work to make your stay feel more like you're a familiar guest in a... More

I loved the location of Casona Rosa, because when you walk out of the door, you step into an true Mexican experience. You can not get a real feel for the people and their lifestyles if you are confined to a resort. The hotel has a charming courtyard where you can enjoy a cup of coffee, read a good book... More

My daughter and I stayed at Casona for a week last summer. Everything was out of this world perfect! Lupe and Rose did all they could to welcome me back and make us both feel so at home! I enjoyed a former stay in the Casona Rosa so much that on a recent visit to Morelia in May (alas, my group was lodged in a different hotel) I made a point to stop by and visit with Rose Calderone the ex-Chicago proprietor of the inn. It is always a joy to sit in the small patio surrounded by... More

To be called "eclectic serenity"...in these crazy days and times is a supreme honor. I have always loved having guests, caring for people, cooking for people...so Casona Rosa is perfect for me and I am so glad that others find the pleasure I intend to give. I went to Morelia with my mom hoping to find a cozy, nice and safe place to stay and we found it! Casona Rosa is an amazing B&B, the owner and her staff were incredibly helpful and nice. They really show your essence of the Mexican culture. The rooms are beautiful, clean, and comfortable. If I ever come back, I... More

Staying at Casona Rosa was truly the highlight of my trip to Mexico this year. Every where I looked - in each of the guest rooms, the living / dining areas, the courtyard, even my bathroom in the fabulous Colonial Suite - there were beautiful Mexican artifacts that made me never want to leave. The personal attention given to each... More

10 girlfriends arrived to Casona Rosa 5 hours late due to car issues. Rose and her staff welcomed us and went out of their way to accommodate us and make sure we were all comfortable in our rooms, even adding 2 extra beds so these 10 weary women could each have their own bed and get a good nights sleep... This was my third visit to Casona Rosa. The door to the property opens off a run-of the-mill street in Morelia and you enter a long open courtyard full of art, plants, a fountain and so much more.'Colourful' is inadequate to describe your surroundings. Rose is a great hostess, knowledgeable about the city and the area, friends with innumerable artists... More

Thank you for your review...I am going to have to pull some more Magic of Michoacan treats out of the bag for your visit next year. But don´t worry as the artisans, food, architecture, people, events-fairs, mercados and weather never fail to disappoint. Gracias! More

Casona Rosa is truly a magical place. Rose and her team have put together the most wonderful little hotel, warm and collaborative. Sharing stories at breakfast with other guests, learning about other's adventures, and hearing all the recommendations really made our trip so much richer. Please stay at Casona Rosa, and say hi to Rose for me!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Guests have said~while staying at Casona Rosa they have the feeling they're in a private hide-out of Frida Kahlo. Casona Rosa is an inn just two blocks from the main street and Morelia's famous pink cathedral. It is a romantic, intimate place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are five suites each with private bathroom, access to a large, fully-equipped kitchen, several sitting areas and a formal dining room. The suites are situated around an outdoor patio area for relaxing. Much attention was paid to decorating each suite with locally made handcrafts. Check out our Facebook page (La Casona Rosa Morelia) for updates on the latest Casona happenings...Enjoy and "Viva la vida!" ... more   less
