A friend and I came to Turks and Caicos celebrate our Birthdays. We choose the Tides due to all the great reviews and a decent price / The rooms were nice and big and the beds were comfy. I loved that the coffee was replenished daily and the room got cleaned really well every day. I was on the ground floor and my travel partner was on a floor above. I actually liked her room better with her huge balcony. Mine went straight to the pool. I felt like it lacked privacy and it was really loud from the outside by the front with people walking by ect. I loved that there were always clean beach towels laying out and the beach chairs / umbrellas and a gorgeous beach.
When we arrived the person working there was not in her office and our taxi driver walked around looking for her so we could get checked in. After reading some recent reviews, I didn’t realize we had use is the bicycles. There were a few other times we needed something/ had questions and couldn’t find anyone. I also didn’t like that we had a 500$ hold put on our CC especially since there was no food / anything you could charge to your room. It was released back to me after being home about 3 days.
We enjoyed eating at the Palms/ hanging at their pool bar and a few restaurants we walked to. We were not impressed with the Beach Bistro nor Hemingways. One of the best experiences of our trip was going on the clear kayaks in the mangroves(baby sharks and turtles) and we also loved our sunset cruise we took out of the Ritz Carlton. We decided by the end of our trip we probably wouldn’t stay at the Tides again mostly due to us liking more of a resort experience with restaurants/ at least 1 bar / pool service.

A great hidden gem.
Spacious and newly-built clean modern rooms (condo style). Ours had two bathrooms and a larger terrasse: an unexpected plus.
Great friendly staff always happy and ready to help. A big thank you to Samantha and Brenda for their references (car rental, tours, activities, etc).
The pool is nice and refreshing. A short 2 minutes walk to the beach where chairs and umbrellas await us are great after using the bikes or for the whole day at the beach. The bikes are really a little convenient bonus to move around close by faster and cheaper than taxis.
The beach section they set their umbrellas and chairs on is quiet and not too crowded.
Not too far from a few restaurants like Bay Bistro and Mr Grouper ( where the island fish festival happens on thursdays). And close by to the saltmills aera by walk, bike or taxi.
We had a great time staying there.

We had originally booked The Palms, but I discovered the Tides on Trip Advisor and decided to stay there. It’s very near The Palms but at a third of the cost. We enjoyed eating at several restaurants and hotels along Grace Bay our entire stay.
Pros
Large room with daily housekeeping- more like a condo than hotel room
Huge kitchen, living room and dining area
Washer and dryer in room
Lovely patio with lounges, high top and chairs on the first floor at poolside
Coffee replenished daily
Complimentary bikes
Complimentary chairs and umbrellas on the beach
Plenary of restaurants nearby
Cons
No restaurant onsite, but Bay Bistro and The Palms are next door
It’s not on the beach, but the beach is a very short walk, and they'll take you in a golf cart
Their beach area is beside a local park, so it’s not private. Some locals used the chairs one day and brought their dog.
We were welcomed by the property's greatest asset when we arrived, Brenda, and she continued to be amazing our entire stay. She obviously loves what she does, and we will go back there because of her!

Let me start by listing the few positives. The staff at the hotel are wonderful people. They were always available when we needed them. The room has a washer and dryer, area is fairly quiet, beach wasn’t far and they had chairs and umbrellas at the beach for guests to use.
Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to make up for the awful room. We booked the Family Suite (1 bed, 2 pullout couches with pool view on the 4th floor). Upon arrival the young lady walked us up to our room, as soon as we walked in we smelled a musty smell. The lady agreed there was a smell and got us the manager to discuss options. He was there within minutes, however, the only solution was to move us to a smaller room. We are a family of four and would not be comfortable in a smaller space for a week. So, the only real option was to stay in the room and pray the smell would go away. An hour later the room smell changes from musty to sewer smelling. The sewer smell would come and go and lasted for about 8 min each time. To make thing worse, the AC wasn’t working properly. We did alert the manager of the AC situation, they had a HVAC company come out the next day to address the issue. It took a few days to get the room temperature right and the musty/ sewer smell never left. We also had some concerns with the main exterior door as it opened outward. The hinge was on the outside which left me thinking anyone would pop the hinge off and get access to the room. The second bathroom has a window with no window cover which was an issue at night. The other disadvantage to this hotel/ area is it’s far from everything . The two restaurants near the hotel are not good, Bay Bistro not sanitary and food was awful, so when we wanted a cup of coffee or a quick bite we would have to go to the main strip. Walking there (20 min)or biking is an option, however, it’s very hot so I don’t even consider that an option before sunset. This left us needing to call a taxi each time we wanted to get something, $6 per person each way adds up fast. Here is my recommendation, if you choose to stay in this area for a quieter stay I would recommend looking at other hotels in the area and rent a car. If you want to be close to everything select a hotel on the main strip ( anything from The Sands to The Ritz is good) so you can have easy access to restaurants and grocery without needing a car.

Thank you for your feedback and for acknowledging our terrific staff and the resort amenities. We understand your room concerns and want to clarify a few points. We promptly addressed the odor issue upon arrival and proactively provided alternative solutions, by offering a different room. Moreover, as a gesture of goodwill, you were also refunded for one night. Tides Grace Bay is located by a gorgeous, secluded section of world-famous Grace Bay Beach. As you will read in the many reviews, many love our location for its low density, beach quality, and easy access. The price point is also about 1/3 the cost of the chain hotels on the strip. We provide free bicycles that make the 7-minute ride to nearby groceries quick and convenient. For that morning coffee, you have to go no further than your kitchen as we offer Keurig coffee that is stocked daily, complimentary. We wish you and your family pleasant travels in the future.

Just checked out from the Tides earlier today. My parents and I went for 5 nights, 6 days. First off, nothing in Turks and Caicos is cheap so if you're expecting it to be a budget friendly vaca, it's not. With that being said, this The Tides is a "Newer" small boutique hotel right in the heart of grace bay that is a much better price point than a lot of the other mainstream places on the island. (i.e. Beaches, Ritz, Seven Stars, etc.) There are about twenty(ish) suites and they are all more like apartments than hotel rooms. We had a one bedroom+Den+Pool view and it was extremely spacious equipped with a full kitchen (basic amenities, don't go in expecting it to be a chefs kitchen) 2 full bathrooms, an entryway which was super large with two chairs and a "Den" that was basically it's own room with a door that shut it off from the rest of the place, including your own bathroom. Giant L shaped deck which was great. You can see the ocean, it's just not ocean front, which we didn't expect anyway. Pool was nice enough, but the beach being a 2 min walk away was awesome. Would totally stay here again and last but not least Samantha, the kind receptionist was awesome. She is very friendly, helpful and can assist in booking excursions and overall makes your stay great. There is a hotel right next door that has a restaurant called "Bay Bistro" right on the ocean front. Views are gorgeous and food was amazing. Beach chairs and umbrellas set up on the beach everyday.

Spacious. Modern. New. Clean. Courteous staff. Washer and dryer with laundry detergent supplied. Dishwasher. Water bottles provided for the beach that you refill by the gym on the way to the beach. Fruits in the room at checkin. Comfortable beds. We stayed on the ground floor with pool view and it was perfect. Sliding glass doors to the pool. Quiet, small hotel just the way we like it. Well maintained pool and grounds. Just walk across the parking lot to the beach. Chairs and umbrellas provided. The one bedroom sleeps 5 comfortably.

I just returned from a family trip at the Tides. I travelled with a party of 18, we had a great time during our stay. The hotel (villa) was quaint and close to the beach (2min walk). The rooms were spacious, modern and very clean. The kitchen had everything you would need to prepare meals.
Samantha from the office was very helpful and accommodating. All the staff were very nice and eager to assist. I didn’t get everyone’s name but each person I came across had a smile on their face and was very nice. I would definitely return.
There are just a few things I would suggest: add full length mirrors to the rooms, they are definitely needed. Adding more chairs on the beach.

Had a great stay at The Tides! Space was very clean, spacious and new. Highly recommend the first floor walk out to the pool if available. Small and quiet. Very short walk to beach ~1 block where the hotel has chairs and umbrellas available for you. BEAUTIFUL beach and sunsets. Restaurant next door was very convenient (all meals) and the food was very good. But we also enjoyed eating in in our comfortable space - ordering in or preparing food. Rented a car which was very convenient. The property was small so going in/out/parking throughout the day was easy. Staff and reservations were also very responsive with questions.

We just returned from an amazing, week stay at The Tides. We loved the small, 15 room hotel and enjoyed having the pool to ourselves most days. The beach was a very short walk, shorter than most all inclusive hotels we've stayed. We really valued the peace and tranquility over the larger hotels we have stayed. Beach chairs and umbrellas were available everyday, with no issues. I was concerned about it not being directly on the beach, but it turned out to be a perfect location, walkable to grace bay area and hotel restaurants nearby. Highly recommend!

The rooms fell short of expectations depicted in the photos, with several amenities missing. We encountered stains on the couch, patches of missing wall, rust stains, and a broken toilet seat, all of which could be easily remedied to enhance the suite's ambiance. As a smaller hotel, the level of service was below what one might anticipate. Upon arrival at 3:30 pm on a Sunday, we were unable to check in until 4:30 due to the previous guest's late checkout. Despite being informed that housekeeping was still cleaning the room, upon entering, we found the floors to be dirty and sandy, leaving a feeling of uncleanliness. Within 30 minutes, my son's feet were covered in black grime. While we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the island and received excellent service from other establishments, we will likely skip The Tides during our next visit and wouldn’t recommend to others.
