We stayed for one night this week at St Benet's Abbey while exploring the area and visiting relations & from the moment we arrived we felt totally at home. Jenny & her team are so welcoming and caring & really made our stay absolutely wonderful. The Abbey is such a beautiful building with a bell tower behind which we could see from our room at the rear of the hotel. We walked down the footpath from the front of the hotel to the village of Lanivet which took just under 10 minutes where we had a lovely meal at the Lanivet Inn. The room was nicely furnished & the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with granola & fruit juice to start then I had smoked haddock with scrambled egg followed by toast & coffee served in a lovely dining room. Thank you so much Jenny & your team for making our stay so wonderful…
We walked The Saints Way from Fowey to Padstow and back and spent the night at St Benet’s Abbey in Lanivet on both the outward and the return leg. We were greeted by our lovely friendly host Jenny, and felt thoroughly spoilt by the comfortable rooms and wonderful vegetarian breakfasts. We would definitely recommend St Benet’s Abbey.
From the moment you walk through the front door you are made very welcomed by Jenny and her team. We arrived for a night of paranormal investigation followed by a great night sleep in a comfortable bed. In the morning had a full English breakfast which was delicious and nothing was to much trouble. Looking forward to returning again soon.
This beautiful venue has the best hospitality in the county. The owners are so charming, it is always a location where you come back to. Plus the occasional ghost to find, which us ten investigators enjoyed immensely.
This is a good B&B but slightly surprised by the number of outstanding reviews. Our room was ok, but nothing special, quite basic and dated but very clean. The beds could have been more comfortable, mattresses need replacing. The breakfast was very fresh, generous with a decent selection. The quality was fine but not outstanding. For over £100 a night we expected it to be better. Overall it was fine for 1 night but unlikely we'd go back.
The best B&B! Some 5 star hotels could learn a thing or two from Jenny and her staff. St Benets is an old Abbey complete with Bell Tower. The property Is a listed building and is comfortable and cosy. If you are expecting a Hilton with a nespresso machine this is not for you. Jenny and her team are the embodiment of service excellence, every small detail is catered to. The rooms we stayed in were 4 and 6. 4 is a double room with a bath and 6 is a lovely combination of a double with a second room with a single bed in if you have a child. There is a fantastic shower. Tea and coffee facilities are in each room and stocked daily. The rooms are cleaned every day and the beds are comfortable. A fresh breakfast is made every morning and you can choose the time you wish it made for. Everyone remembered your name and it felt like you were in your own home amongst friends. This is a true gem in the middle of Cornwall. I shall no doubt recommend to friends and clients. We cannot wait to visit again. Thank you Jenny and staff for an unforgettable time.…
We had a lovely stay at St Benet’s, a family run B&B where you’re made to feel very welcome. Very clean, rooms are serviced every day and a lovely breakfast, always served with a smile by Jenny and her staff. Will definitely be returning next year, hopefully for a longer stay, as it’s a great central location to get around North Cornwall from.
Great B&B in a beautiful building and lovely gardens. Hosts were very welcoming and friendly. The building has been carefully restored,. Our room was great with a huge wooden bed and comfortable. Good breakfast. Loved sleeping in a building with such a long history. This is not a modern B&B but one which has the charm and care of history and furnished appropriately, we loved it.
Fantastic B&B in a beautiful building and gardens. Very welcoming and friendly host who could not do enough for you. The old abbey has been restored and very well kept and it is great these old building are kept. This B&B is on a pilgrim route from Padstow to Fowey and the host explained this to us and we will definitely be doing this in the very near future. Would thoroughly recommend this abs will be staying here again on our next visit to Cornwall.
My friend and I arrived after a day walking the Saint's Way. To say we were tired is an understatement. Jenny gave us a warm and friendly welcome the moment we stepped inside this beautiful historic building. Our twin room was on the ground floor - what a relief... no stairs to climb. However, there are some bedrooms on the first floor. Both our bedroom and the ensuite shower room were very clean. Facilities were more than adequate. A kettle to make ourselves a variety of hot drinks, bottled water and a biscuit or two. Twin beds with crisp cotton sheets. (It was a very warm night - my friend asked for an alternative to her duvet and a light blanket was instantly provided). In the ensuite there was shampoo and shower gel, clean laundered towels and bath mat. What more do you need? Breakfast was plentiful, with so much to choose from including smoked salmon, full English, or just toast and jam - orange juice, tea or coffee - again, what more do you need. This is not 'luxury', ultra modern hotel accommodation, it is a modest family run B&B and the very reasonable price reflects this. But I can honestly say that we lacked for nothing. The building is steeped in history and it was a privilege to be able to share in that, even if it was for only one night. Thank you Jenny, your kindness was much appreciated by us both…
