My wife and I recently stayed at the hotel, having previously visited the excellent restaurant over many years. We were not disappointed. Friendly, attentive staff, beautiful bedroom and wonderful, imaginative cuisine. Everything was superbly clean and well maintained. We will definitely return - a real gem.

Only 10 minutes drive outside of Kendal (which brands itself as the gateway to the South Lakes / 1.5h drive from Manchester) in the tiny village of Crosthwaite, the Punchbowl Inn comes with a pub and restaurant and 9 luxurious upstairs rooms for overnight stays. Together with 12th century St. Mary’s church it overlooks the Lynth valley with its soft...

Stayed one night for a family celebration. The rooms are beautiful, if a tad expensive. Ok, so you do get an afternoon tea on day of arrival, and the brekFast is excellent. Staff and service very good. Try and get a room with view over the valley ( as opposed to merely the carpark) If staying here, well worth a...

A wonderful Inn in a great spot for Eastern Cumbria. We stayed in Cooper for 3 nights. The offer was 3 nights for the price of 2. Stunning view. Beautiful bathroom. Heating turned on or off as you required via reception. Loved it. If I was being picky the bed was lower than I like. Inn in general a treat....

We stayed at The Punchbowl for one night as a stop off on our way to Scotland. We stayed in The Peake room I believe is the smallest of the 9 rooms but it was a good size room with lovely decor. Tv and radio also in room. Only downside was the lighting, had a lovely dressing table but lighting...

Our children gave us vouchers as a Christmas gift, and we spent a night here with dinner. The whole experience was fantastic. Our room was very comfortable, well designed and equipped. Everything was top quality from the lovely bath room products to the mattress and pillows. Small tip, ask for a sheet for the bed, we did find the room...

We went for Sunday lunch with friends. We had roast beef which was amazing, its very hard to get a roast lunch perfect when you are cooking for many people but The Punch Bowl excelled. Beef perfect (rare and or well done) depending on your taste, yorkshire puds perfect, roast potatoes perfect and so on. All of the food including...

A good stopping off place for lunch when travelling but can be busy so chose to book a table in the bar area. There's a good range of light lunches to choose from. We had a bowl of mussels with chilli and fennel and fish cake with poached egg. No time for anything else unfortunately. Staff friendly and service prompt.
