I stayed at the Mariquinta for three months. I left only because my wonderful Bertha, who finally relented on changing my sheets daily (!) and started bringing me breakfast daily, came with me, sort of (2 afternoons a week), when I moved into an apartment in nearby Coatepec. Israel, who was born at the Mariquinta (almost; his mom was the...

This is a really cool old colonial house separated into two different sections. Our room was very large with our own back patio and two double beds. Everything in this hotel was really well set up, convenient, and comfortable. It feels very secure and is in an unbeatable location. There was a big water dispenser outside of our room for...

This charming posada is located in the lively and interesting historic center of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. Once inside, it feels a world away. Formerly one of the grand private historic homes of the city, La Mariquinta has been remade as a small tasteful inn with a lovely garden, pleasant rooms, and friendly staff.

I discovered this Posada through some friends who live in Jalapa, after explaining them I wanted a place both central and quiet, which might have been difficult to combine. La Mariquinta is both and more, with the privileged feeling to stay in a historical house and a nice museum of arts, as I was offered to visit what still exists...

Stayed here 1 night while traveling in Veracruz state. B&B is located in a nice colonial mansion, rooms are in the back garden. Rooms are OK: TV & wireless (which you have to pay extra for). No breakfast though In the center there are several place for breakfast so you don't have to go far for it.They also have suites...

Charming boutique hotel, with exceptional service and a welcoming and understanding manager. While the rooms are a bit oddly laid out - owing to it's being a converted private residence - it's charm and convenience make it a great value. Plus, in spite of being "in the middle of everything", it's very quiet and a relaxing retreat after a day...

I stayed at this Posada during the Hay Literary Festival, held in Xalapa from the 6th to the 9th. The hotel is charming, the reception area which is a living room gives it a homey feeling. I had a small suite that was more than adequate. The hotel does not serve breakfast but there are quite a few great places...

We are Mexico travelers and our favorite part of Mexico is the state of Veracruz which has everything within its borders including the small but interesting capital city of Xalapa. There are several small nice hotels in the city but Posada La Mariquinta is our favorite. It is a little more expensive than the others but the privacy, the beautiful...

We travel in Mexico a lot, We like hotels that have character, where the staff is friendly and helpful, that are clean, that have plenty of hot water, and that have reading lights for the beds. We prefer to be in the historic centers. We do not require the latest in American- style facilities or conveniences. Great character and cool...

My wife and I have stayed here for the last 4 years for a month at a time. We stay in one of the apartments so I have no comment about the individual rooms. Our apartment is perfect for our needs since we like to make our own food from time to time. The inn is very quiet although a...
