At Mayan Palace at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta, guests have called out the spacious and clean accommodations, though some have encountered issues with room availability and conditions. While the hotel's lively atmosphere with fun activities is a hit among families, many travelers have voiced concerns about the value, finding the experience overpriced.
The resort's cleanliness receives high marks, but service can be a mixed bag, with commendable staff offset by service delays and overbooking frustrations. Amenities offer variety but also come with their share of caveats, including timeshare pitches and access issues.

Detailed Reviews
The Mayan Palace is a very beautiful well kept and maintained resort. It is large and expanding. For a person like me with serious walking difficulties it was a challenging week. The rest of my family really enjoyed exploring the Property but even with the shuttle service I was still pressed into walking more than what was enjoyable for me me. Getting to and from the beach and pool was the worst and that is what I believe everyone comes for. I found myself and many others with greater age or walking challenges exhausted and frustrated trying to find a ride back to their rooms after a day at the waterfront and pool. The shuttle's seem to disappear and are few and far between. Once I got to the beach/pool I wouldn't even think about going back to the room for the rest of the day even if I forgot my suit, it is just that far a journey. The staff is amazing and one driver saw that I was struggling waiting for my shuttle, I wish I had gotten his name, came over to me and said that he would deviate from his route to get me to the Palace. The restaurant's were all enjoyable but access to the outside world and local restaurants is a good beach walk or a longer cab ride. Aside from my restrictions I'm sure most people/families would be thrilled to have a vacation at Vidanta. Our second week is currently at Vidanta Sea Garden and I am absolutely thrilled with the closeness of everything and quality of the resort.

We finally got a room with a king bed our last 2 nights after sleeping in separate full size beds the first 3.
The food has been consistently good at almost every restaurant we’ve dined at.
The Joy Club, Oscar and Fernanda, @Mayan Bliss kept us well entertained and distracted us from the cold pool.
All staff is very polite and service is over and above everywhere you go.
Covid is taken seriously. All staff in masks at all times and cleanliness is above and beyond.
Cons: too big of a resort and you do feel trapped as it is very difficult to leave the resort without paying $300 pesos for a taxi, unlike other resorts where you walk put and get an Uber (Uber is blocked here)
Jacuzzis and pools need to be heated during weeks when the temperature barely hits 80
Guest mix packing diversity. Obviously caters to snowbirds feom Canada and some US.
Allow use of all pools at all resorts without requiring timeshare presentation (can use all restaurants).

We really enjoyed hanging out at the pool and walking down the beach to restaurants in the marina. The restaurants at the resort and generally overpriced so we hit the Walmart in town for groceries and made breakfast and snacks in the room. The joy squad at the pool was very fun, especially Hipolito (“Chicken”), who forced us to play games that we ended up enjoying. He has a couple good magic tricks and water aerobics was pretty fun too. We got locked out of our room a couple times and had to wait for someone to come replace the lock battery or reprogram our bracelets. Overall a fun getaway!

Somewhat disappointed in the Mayan Palace after hearing good thins about it from others who vacationed there but years earlier. You must use golf cart transportation to move to other buildings to dine or to go to the beach or to go to other pool facilities as the pool for this location was under repair. Normal condo items such as washer/dryer, large refrigerator, dish washer, etc are not available. The balcony only judded out 2 feet, completely useless. Unless you can walk easily prepare to wait to do anything. Can not walk to town, always need a cab and of course a golf cart to take you to and from the cab area. Other buildings are beautiful, so perhaps booking for other than the Mayan would work best

First let me say that I am a small business owner who travels extensively. I just finished 7 weeks in Europe (not for work) and will continue vacation for 2 more weeks. Now:
Don’t be fooled by the shiny things displayed as ‘luxury.’ We are in the Mayan Palace and have not had a hot shower since we arrived. We were held hostage by a sales presentation and I had to insist to be allowed to go to a restaurant on the property because I was very hungry from traveling.
The check in process is almost deliberately slow and inefficient.
When we finally got to the *actual* check in (after the sales pitch) we were told that our room would not be ready for 4 hours. After some very intense discussion we got into a room and clearly saw housekeeping staff socializing in the hallway. There certainly could not have been any rooms to clean if they had time to relax and chat.
Our first room was awful. There was chipped tile and dirty floors. I had to clean my feet in order to get into the bed. Also, don’t plan on sleeping at Mayan Palace above the Plaza unless you are very drunk or on drugs somehow. There is loud pouding music until after 10:30pm and then more music from a farther location until after 1am. This is not an appropriate spot for a family vacation.
The market is very limited in food choices, but they will talk it up like it’s a grocer store.
Also, we will not be seeing the surrounding area due to the incredible difficulty of leaving the resort.
Last night we were delighted to be able to have a nice walk along the beach and be able to visit a local restaurant near the harbor. It was a wonderful, natural, relaxing experience.
Our salesman compared this place to Las Vegas. I hate Las Vegas less than I hate this place.
If you want a nice beach, peace and quiet, luxury you can certainly find it, but it is not at Vidanta.
This place is the biggest scam I have ever seen.

Vidanta Resort is enormous, Beautiful resort, pools, and excellent rooms. The restaurant are over priced and food is just OK, nothing to brag. The reason for 2 stars is, this resort is so enormous, your stuck in the resort, to leave outside, it cost $30 for a taxi for 4 people each way to go to town. This resort has everything you need, just way over priced. It feels like your trap in there. Rooms are equipped with everything you need to cook, down side is you can't take your own snack or drink to the pool area, your forced to buy ther over price food and drinks. Ther sales team or 120 minute presentation is horrible, very pushy and will insult you if you don't buy

The people here have been fun and great service. We had a hard time finding good food here except breakfast at Cafe del Lago where we had to wait in line so long it was hardly worth it but because of Covid regulations we had to wait to be served for each dish. There was much construction so lots of noise. There was a sewer leak that made it smell horrible as we walked along the way to breakfast. You must pay a taxi if you want to get off the property, and their rates vary depending on which driver you get. We were very upset with their sales presentation which we were told we should attend just to get to know our benefits with what we already own and not try to sell us anything because we already were owners. Totally a horrible experience when we were lied to and felt like we were held hostage as they had taken our driver's licenses and credit card and would not return them until after 6 hours of sitting through their high pressure spill, which we told them outright we were not interested in, we just got up and left and afterwards they caught up to us as we were leaving and finally gave them back to us.

Dear 291teresah : Thank you for providing your comments about your vacation at The Grand Mayan. We are pleased to learn our staff’s service was efficient. They work tirelessly - day and night, to make our guests’ visits the most enjoyable experience ever. However, we regret your stay was different from what you had expected. As one of the most successful companies in the Mexican tourism field, we clearly communicate the terms and conditions associated with accepting an invitation to our sales presentation, and everyone - at free will, attends. We do appreciate any feedback being provided to us and rest assured we will share it with the corresponding area as we strive to make each and every one of our guests feel cared for, appreciated, and respected whether they decide to acquire our products or not. My mother and I went there as we had received a certificate for a DreamVacationWeek. Before booking, we looked at the website and at the reviews and it looked fine. There were a lot of amenities, restaurants and experiences offered. Upon arrival, we went through massive security check, we had never saw that many before. They checked and scans all of our bags before taking our luggages. When we got to check in, it went well, until they mentioned something that made us realize it was not an all inclusive as it had appeared when we booked with the certificate. Turns out, that on the fourth page of an English documents that confirmed our reservation, to was written in small and in Spanish that some services such as cleaning services and meals were mot included in the booking. We were then pressured into going to a presentation that was supposed to last 60 minutes and brings discount/services that we did not have otherwise because we were in the Mayan Palace which was described as the "shed of the resort" by an employee. We went to the presentation and at first, everything went well, until after 1h30 after breakfast when my mom and I started to get impatient to go to the beach as it was close to 11 am and we had booked the breakfast at 8:30 in hope of getting some pool time before lunch. At this moment, the sell guy started to threatened my mom by showing her the contract and telling her that if we did not stay, they would charge us the breakfast and take away all of the other advantages that we didn't even have yet. We left anyway and as a word of advice, the presentation is supposed to start once you are seated at the table not once the breakfast is over, so skip the hour where they show you suites and rooms. It's such a scam. Also, on the website of the Mayan Palace, nowhere is it mentioned that it is part of a bigger resort and that the only pool you have accessed to is the main pool, so you can forget about the lazy river, the pyramid mayan and the jungle park. Also the place is extremely expenssive and even when we tried to restrain ourselves, the bill came back to over 60 U$. At last, be careful at check-out as they will try to bill you things that you did not use, or already paid. Also, you pay for the water bottle, the coffee and the cleaning services in your room.
We were also lied many times by the staff when we asked questions about the resorts or we were told that they did not know when asked for directions or services. They all seemed to know nothing that should be known by the staff of a hotel.
We do not recommend. Stay away!
We came back after only 3 days as we hated it and it would have cost more to stay there than to come back early.

La Cantina was the highlight of our trip because they had terrible service. La Cantina must be hurting for customers or something because we got crap for trying to get an outdoor table which they said were only by reservation but tables were available.
The housekeeping staff were amazing. Café Del Lago was delicious. Vidanta Resort has dedicated taxi drivers but overcharge such as taxi #12, he stole from us just because we were five us us and the taxi was a van. Ask how much they will charge before you get in the taxi and get the rates from the staff to compare. We're happy to say we will not return to this Vidanta Resort because of the difficulty of getting in and out of the resort. Going to the beach is a big deal. There was construction right outside our rooms, the cement drill started early every morning and woke me up, even on the weekend. The location is so unfriendly and that is so sad because most of the staff is happy to make your stay safe, friendly and fun.
We enjoyed shopping at the jewelry store at the Grand Mayan.

Prepare to be blind sided by the unexpected profit centres and exorbitant prices for food and drinks. Want a hamburger by the pool?… 350 pesos ($28.00 CAD). A Clubhouse sandwich costs about $27.00. A 1.5 litre bottle of water in your room is 25 pesos ($2.00) but the same bottled water at the pool or poolside restaurant is $18.00! A perk currently offered to go on a timeshare presentation is that you get 4 hours use of a tennis court; but you have to rent a racket and balls. Oh, and if you want the court’s lights turned on so that you can see, that’s an extra $10.00 (USD)!
Although the property, grounds and staff are great, food quality is good and amenities are attractive, I likened the experience of vacationing at what’s now know as Vidanta World, to being at a casino in Vegas, where you know the house always wins.
The consensus around the pools and beach area among fellow vacationers was that almost every aspect of the resort is designed to create profits for Vidanta World. The pushy, dishonest and relentless timeshare sales reps will try to wear you down until you finally buy. Members pay a high amount to buy a timeshare and then we pay ever-increasing usage fees; and because they make it a real hassle to leave the property, you end up having to pay their exorbitant prices for food, drinks, groceries and other incidentals. We felt like we were walking, talking ATM machines that the resort kept making withdrawals from.

They work tirelessly - day and night, to make our guests’ visits the most enjoyable experience ever. On the other hand, We regret that our concept was different from what you expected. We would like to point out as that our prices are competitive compared to other luxury resorts of the same quality in the area. We do regret too the behavior exhibited by the sales staff. Rest assured these are not the best business practices that we spend considerable time, energy, and resources training on, and they will not be tolerated. We strive to make each and everyone feel cared for, appreciated, and respected. The Mayan Palace in Nuevo Villarta is in the same building complex as the "mercado grocery store." You will need to exit at the main lobby, and walk or shuttle to the mercado, about 10-15 minute walk. There you will find groceries, pastries, alcohol, souvenirs, ice cream/yogurt, restaurants, chocolatier, bread bakery, pharmacy. The resort is huge. From Mayan Palace, you will walk 15 minutes to the pool, or 20 minutes to the beach. Shuttle service is available.
Greetings from paradise Katie C!
Thank you for your preference.
We have a self-service centre where guests will find washers and dryers. Upon arrival, please request details to use this area to the front desk staff. They will gladly assist you.
Please do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-292-9446 for any other questions you may have.
We look forward to welcoming you to our resort!
