Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is a stunning all-inclusive resort with impeccable service. I have traveled to their Cabo and Riviera Maya location, however, there is something incredibly magical about Nayarit! I should note, It's very hard to impress me and I have very high expectations.
My greatest tip, if your looking to plan a trip to ANY Grand Velas property, is to contact Grand Velas direct and request to speak to Reservation Specialist Leonardo Ramirez! He's honest, patient and will guide you to your best vacation choice. You will feel as though you are speaking with a family member. If he's not available, request a return call or email him directly. His email is lramirezm@velasresorts.com (first initial is an L for Leonardo). I assure you he is worth the wait!
Once you arrive, each guest is assigned to a personal Concierge. At time of reservation, request to assisgned to Mario Chavez! He goes beyond the call of duty to ensure your stay is flawless. He personally placed rose petals in our suite for a special occasion see attached images!
BTW, t's only a 20 minute taxi ride from Puerto Vallarta!!!

I saw this resort on HBO's Insecure and knew I had to try it. The cleanliness starts from the time you exit the vehicle from the airport. The asked us to prepare our traveling clothes for laundry service and you can pay extra if you want to add more. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The food was fantastic, but they will not let guys in the restaurants unless you're wearing jeans. Make sure you try the sensational desert at the Sin Liu restaurant. The bartender at Lucca was great as well. Be sure to try the rib eye tacos at Frida as well.
The biggest highlight was the poolside where SANTIAGO kept us happy everyday. The service was exceptional. He was accompanied by a younger guy that assisted us on Santiago's day off and he was just as phenomenal. The consistency in the drinks was spot on each day. Although the resort was all inclusive, we ordered Clase Azul Repasado (not included) and had them make us strawberry margaritas with it, until they ran out of bottles towards our last day. I would definitely recommend staying at this resort.
The reason for the 4 stars is because we accidentally left the patio door open in our wellness suite and returned to a room full of bugs. The first room they put us in had an awful mildew smell and so did the second room. We had to have the linen switched out in the second room because it was damp. However, the next day they placed us in the most amazing suite, room 723. It was a two-bedroom, three bathroom suite and they even set up the doterra air purifier with eucalyptus oil before we arrived.
Overall, we were extremely pleased with the entire stay. Most of the couples/families we met had been there before and I am certain that we will visit again.

A large part of your personal experience here, apart from our high-end Clase Azul Reposado Tequila, was the on-the-spot service that you encountered. Santiago was always there during your time, poolside, to make sure you had everything and more. And my concierge staff were on-hand, quick to respond to the issue of your suite, ensuring that you continued forward with a highly positive perception of the resort. That initiative reflects the reasoning on just why the TripAdvisor Community recently voted us as being the 9th Best Hotel in The World. This place isnt cheap. You are paying a premium. What you are getting, unlike many places, IS what you paid for. If you cant afford this place (lord knows in my 20s or 30s I could not) there are many other good options in PV.
I have stayed in over 50 all inclusive resorts around the world. Israel, mexico, turkey, Greece, Costa rica....this was hands down the best. why?
The service is insane. There isnt a thing they wont do for you. You know when your at the pool in your lounger desperately trying to make eye contact with the server to get another drink. That's not happening here. The servers watch, and if your glass is half full here comes another.
Hungry? Just ask. We wanted fish tacos, guac, pizza, fries, chicken wings and ice cream served too us at our loungers. 30 minutes later, there it was. And this is quality.
Your kid decides to have FIVE chocolaty frozen drinks with her new friends and then pukes it up at 2am. 1 phone call, no joke 2 minutes later 3 people in gloves came in like a tornado and cleaned the whole area, changed sheets, and lit a beautiful candle for the smell and they were gone instantly.
And suddenly you will be at the pool and out of no where a guy with an actual SEAL will show up midday on the grass for a performance while they have a cotton candy machine going and chefs are cooking paella.
Yes, food at restaurants are top notch. Yes, rooms are huge, why anyone needs a suite for this place is beyond me. Yes, grounds are stunning.
But you can find that in many places.
It's the touches sprinkled out throughout your stay that really makes this place standout.

It was one of our best experiences in this hotel. The hotel was very clean and they had very strict measures to make sure everything was disinfected and clean . Even the rooms had a seal meaning that they had been thoroughly disinfected. All the personnel had mask at all times . I do want to point out two persons that definitely made the difference to make sure my family was comfortable and well taken care of , Mrs Guadalupe Ruiz and Mr Luis Islas went beyond their way to make sure our family was happy and that we enjoyed our vacation to its fullest with out missing one single detail. They are all always very attentive and polite at all times . Fidel ,Fransico and David where always making sure well taken care of as well . It means a lot when the managers and supervisors visit with you to make sure they are not missing any thing that may make a difference in you enjoying your experience. We came for my college roommates wedding, were a little hesitant because it is an expensive trip but it was worth every penny and more. The resort is absolutely beautiful, service is the best I've ever received, especially Jose (our pool concierge for the weekend), he made us feel so welcome, was very attentive, spoke perfect English, and made great recommendations. The rooms were beautiful, (tip: pool view is also ocean view!!) Food was amazing, Piaf (French cuisine) was my favorite private dining but Azul (the buffet) was also excellent and our Azul waiter, Israel, was wonderful!! The property is so well groomed, friendly staff and legit all inclusive. I was surprised we could order premium cocktails at no additional charge, amazing ceviches, shots of chilled Don Julio by the pool, 24/7 room service, and even a trained hawk that flies around to keep pesky birds away so they dont bother you for food or poop everywhere. And the spa, oh geez, the spa. It's an absolute must, water ritual before your appointment is insane. I felt like a new person after that. We made our appointments for 10am so you arrive 1 hour early for water ritual. It was perfect, we finished up around lunch time and headed to the pool relaxed and ready to be served by the pool! The weather in February has been like a dream, warm but dry and breezy. Cannot wait to come back! Thank you Grand Velas for a wonderful experience!

This resort is absolutely amazing. We were very anxious to travel due to CoVid but as soon as we stepped inside the resort and saw every single staff member masked and wearing a face shield, as well as the hand sanitizer dispensers through the hotel, we immediately knew this is a place that takes safety seriously. Above all, the staff made our stay truly unforgettable- Jose, our server at the pool, Ever and Diego, the fitness & entertainment gurus, Danielle, our concierge and the many staff who waited on us at the restaurants, We’re all amazing!! A sincere thank you! These folks are truly remarkable at what they do. Attentive, creative and friendly, respectful and mindful are just a few adjectives that come to mind. The meals we had at Piaf and Lucca were unbelievable too! The resort is impeccable - clean, quiet and safe! The fact that it was occupied at 30% or less probably increased the level of personal attention we received. It will be interesting to see if they can deliver the same service when the occupancy increases. The only negative is about the sun screen the resort provides - it’s more like hydrating lotion. No SPF whatsoever. We got pretty burned the first day we were there and had to pay $$$ at the hotel gift shop. We didn’t bring enough sunscreen from home because the resort advertises that it provides it at the pool.

This was our first visit to Puerto Vallarta and Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit was amazing. The grounds of the resort are kept very clean and the room we had was amazing! Each night we could go out on our balcony and look out at the pool and ocean and watch an incredible orange sunset. In the room you are provided with robes, sandals and a wonderful rattan beach bag to use each day during your stay. A gift shop is located on the ground floor with reasonably priced necessities, clothing and souvenirs. If you need to leave the staff hails a taxi and it arrives within minutes. We were especially impressed with two of the staff members/pool concierge working at the restaurant near the pool and pool side service. Antonio and Jose were extremely polite, friendly and helpful in finding us pool chairs, getting towels, keeping us hydrated and keeping us happy with Mai Tai's, carne asada tacos and nachos! You should bring your beach bag down to the pool and use it to mark your chair or leave something personal, sunglasses, etc., when in the pool or away from your chair as that is the only way staff knows the chair is not available. Also, don't be alarmed if you see a huge iguana or peacock go by you, they occasionally are spotted on the premises. There is also a falcon and falconer on the premises. There are tennis courts and at night a live band plays and many people danced! Surprisingly the resorts Italian restaurant had the best food! We ordered room service a few nights and everything arrived quickly and at a good temperature. We would definitely return however not in July. The humidity and mosquitos were relentless. Be advised that the rivers dump into the ocean and on occasion the crocodiles have been spotted by the beach. The ocean during our week stay was very murky so I only put my feet in and the temperature was around 75. I enjoyed the pool daily. It is an all inclusive resort however you are allowed to tip the staff and they are very appreciative when you do. I hope that we can return again in a year or two, definitely worth it!!!

We have been coming to Grand Velas for years and have never been disappointed. What's not to love? Fabulous food, amazing service and beautifully manicured grounds. The gracious staff truly goes out of their way to make sure very guest feels special.
For anyone concerned about traveling due to the pandemic, rest assured that every precaution is taken. The resort has always taken pride in its cleanliness and they are being meticulous when it comes to keeping everything sanitized and safe. Our temperature was taken every time we went off the property, our luggage and shoes were disinfected, every staff member wore masks/shields, rooms were sanitized, etc. They even made sure pool loungers are arranged for distance. All safety protocols were followed to make sure all guests felt comfortable.
It was wonderful to leave the rest of the world behind and just relax and enjoy the phenomenal service and food. A big thanks to the staff at Azul who made our breakfasts and lunch so enjoyable. They are an amazing team of servers who always had a smile! Special thanks to Fidel, who always goes out of his way to make sure we are taken care of!
Service by the pool is super attentive and Mario took great care of us for the week. He anticipated our needs and had such a great attitude. There is never a need to be bored by the pool - the activities team of Ever and Diego are the best! Water aerobics, water volleyball, soccer, etc. kept us all busy. They are just really fun guys!
Our dinners at Sen Lin and Lucca were delicious - even though they have a reduced menu due to the pandemic, the chefs were so accommodating and met any special requests we had. Service was gracious and attentive in both restaurants.
Grand Velas is a special place with a special staff! All in all, we had a tremendous time and cannot wait to go back!

Being a hospitality management major in college and learning about different ways to wow and delight the guests, I was very curious to experience a resort like this as our company sent a group of us out for a reward for last year. This resort is literally beautiful. From the moment you walk in the atrium, you are met by a serene look at the infinity pool and the ocean. The property is meticulously well-maintained and it is very clear that the staff is very intentional about keeping a standard of excellence.
I say all of that to say you should definitely come here. It’s beautiful, service is incredible, and the hospitality of the Mexican people is really shown in true form here.

As a team, we have worked very hard over the years to establish a level of service as you are now describing. One doesn't have to receive a "Wow!" moment every day, but to sense that persons such as Jose are using their sensors to stay one step ahead of your needs is a refreshing eye-opener. - I think children who aren't yet 13 can check out the Teen's Club if accompanied by a parent. If you're looking to drop off your 12 year-old and not stay to supervise them, you may want to email the hotel and get it in writing. I believe there is a different color wrist-band for 12 and under and 13 up, designating which club they should have access to. The Kids Club at Riviera Nayarit is recently renovated and is quite nice (video games, movies, foosball, etc).
- We have been there two different years in February and they always have shows and entertainment every evening. I think the timing usually starts right before sunset.
- The hot tub is only for adults, but there are 3 all-ages large pools, and additionally a separate pool for babies/toddlers.
- I don't know the temperature, but the water always feels great in February. You can also easily step down to the beach whenever you want and go in the ocean.
