Being a real ale fan travelling with my disabled wife, elderly father and dog - I picked this out as a likely ideal stopover for a night on a trip home from North Yorkshire. The accommodation part of the website seems to be an external link to a booking agency and it was not clear if the dog could stay...

We were delighted to find The Old poet's Corner in Ashover for a place to enjoy a birthday lunch with our son. The selection of home brewed ales was very comprehensive and the pumps were set out on the bar going from palest to darkest. What a choice! A fellow diner recommended a darker gold beer as it was his...

We visited recently and it's not what it use to be. We often eat out and enjoy trying new places. We have loyalty towards the Old Poets so I persuaded my husband to revisit. It was disappointing. The atmosphere was good but the service and food was average. It seems to have gotten too comfortable and doesn't attempt to give...

An excellent stay in a well run, friendly and beer-tastic pub. The Old Poets is located in the small(ish!) Derbyshire village of Ashover and we spent a couple of nights here with the intention of walking the local areas trails (just try the ones suggested on the website, they're great) and thoroughly sampling the hospitality of the pub afterwards... The...

What a gem of a place, we stayed for 4 nights & was so glad we did, Darren welcomed us & couldn't do enough for us from the start, we were going to try a different pub every night to eat, but the food was so good that we only went out 1 night, the beer was all excellent, &...

We decided to visit "The Old Poet's Corner" for our 50th Wedding Anniversary having been snowed in there on our Wedding Day in April 1966. The Owners allowed us to stay overnight and supplied breakfast in front of a roaring log fire the following morning. It was a lovely beginning to our marriage.

We hired the 1st floor function room on a Saturday. Food was served promptly and staff were lovely and respectful of our privacy during the speaker. Would thoroughly recommend for any groups looking for a function room and food.

Good location. Great Pub with excellent food and friendly atmosphere. Fantastic Customer Service. Made us feel welcome from the moment we got there, including our 2 black labs. Nothing was too much trouble. Cottage was clean and very comfortable. Joins directly on to the pub so not far to go for food and drink and no trouble getting home after...

This is the fourth time I've stayed and visited the Old Poets Corner, each time to enjoy the twice yearly beer festival in March and October. As they have rooms we always decide to stay over, great to be able to attend the beer festival and toddle off to bed after you've tried as many as you can manage! The...
