We got a "Smartbox" voucher from friends. I'm afraid they paid for a night in a castle, but we stayed in a B&B "attached" to a Castle. We are a small family with one 5y daughter.
For our voucher we were supposed to get a "superior room". The room was nice, clean and big BUT from our window we had view to the parking lot instead of the beautiful Piemont hills. :-( Unforgivable!!!
The woman, that gave us the tour through the castle (included in the voucher) was very nice, spoke perfect English and gave us one of the best tour we ever enjoyed: Thank you!
The rest of the crew was unfortunately rather arrogant.
Around 4 in the morning the animal that lives in the roof started to make very loud noise. (Marten / dormouse? Searching for food above ceiling, under the roof tiles) The crew simply denied the possibility of an animal making noise above our room. Well, it's not only the noise, friends. Good luck fixing the damage in a few...

This was the first stay during a week visit to Piemonte, Italy. We loved staying at this castle! Rooms were spacious, comfortable, peaceful and amazing views. Enzo was magnificent at helping us determine our daily outings and dinners. Nice to have a secure parking area. Our favorite place to stay during our many, many years of traveling throughout Italy. Basso Monferatto was a perfect beginning to our trip as it was less traveled with so much to explore. Castles and villages every direction you look, amazing wine (Roche!!!) and our own castle! More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tenuta Marchesi Scarampi is the result of a slow and steady recovery of the conservative lower court of the Camino's Castle. The old stables, barns, housing factor with large girders were the subject of intense restoration, still in constant evolution and improvement, which enabled the opening of the lodge, a cozy and comfortable space where you can spend pleasant and relaxing stay in Monferrato's hills, fine wines, the history of the ancient mansion of the Marquis Scarampi and much more. Right destination for a relaxing getaway amid the green hills of Monferrato and the gleaming rice fields of Vercelli. Muted colors and simple furnishings characterize the halls and rooms, all with private bathrooms, to accommodate guests in the quiet of the castle. ... more   less
