You can take the shuttle bus to go skiing, or if you want, walk into town and relax and enjoy your time there.
As for the outdoors, Suflur Mountain Provides a great 1 day hike, from the bottom to the top, and then to different peaks all along the ridge. You can hike up and avoid the lift fee and bring some lunch and snacks and just explore around. At the end of the day, you can take the lift down, since it is free during the winter season.
I would recommend this is you Do decide to stay at Banff instead of LL.
