Wonderful spot! Just off the main road of Jasper, alongside the beautiful and roaring Athabasca River and Dead Man's Hole. Very relaxing, quiet, set in nature, walking distance to nearby trails and town. Restaurant onsite, delicious too, a little more of a modern menu as compared to the town's options. Fireplace in the cabin made for a very cozy evening.... More

we stayed in the so called deluxe astoria cabin with two bedrooms. the sofa bed was very uncomfortable and no blanket was provided automatically. we were only able to get one the next day, as by the time we discovered this the office was closed for the night. the soft seating consisted of a small sofa with room for three.... Nice, charming, rustic not overly developed cabin. Pleasant stay for the weekend. Close enough to Jasper that it was a nice stroll through the woods. Far enough away from Jasper to insulate from hustle and bustle of a resort town. Very picturesque lots of rivers, wildlife, an of course surrounded by beautiful views.

We stayed in a cute little cabin with one queen bed however the bed was in the corner against the wall under a window and my husband couldn't tuck the bed covers in so his sleep was disturbed by the draft. I did mention this at check out - may be a manager should try a night in this style... More

Such a delight to stay at. We stayed here towards the end of sept, the cabin we rented sleeps 6 so it was nice and cozy for the 4 of us that went. The location is perfect if you want to be out of town and yet still close enough that you can go in for supper or to do... More

We made a last minute decision to book Tekarra Lodge and we were glad we did. The Lodge accommodation is cosy with a small kitchenette. Everything is clean and in working order. When we booked we hadn't realized how good the Tekarra Restaurant was. The restaurant serves amazing local food, much of it prepared on-site including delicious smoked trout. Breakfast... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Tekarra Lodge enjoys an enviable location within Jasper National Park, the largest of the national mountain parks in Canada, 4200 square miles in area. Jasper became a National Park in 1907 and the town site's first buildings were constructed in 1911, then Jasper was known as the town of Fitzhugh. Tekarra Lodge is located across the river from the base of its namesake, Tekarra Mountain. Tekarra Mountain, towering 2635 meters above us is named for the Iroquois guide and hunter who accompanied Sir James Hector on his expedition through the Rocky Mountains during the mid-1850s. The skill and devotion of the guide Tekarra saved the lives of the members of that expedition. He sustained and fed them during the grim and bitter winter with caribou that he hunted on the mountain. It was because of this devotion that Sir James named the mountain Tekarra. The lodge grounds form the banks of the confluence of the Athabasca and Miette rivers. This land is maintained in its natural state, and offers a wonderful study for nature lovers. Tekarra's marked nature walk, and the Indian totem poles give pleasure to all ages. The area and history in and around the property is a fascinating one. One of the first settlements of Jasper called Henry House may have been located adjacent to the lodge on the south side of the river. Even today, there is still indication of an old homestead and some outbuildings. Tekarra Lodge was built circa 1947 and initially consisted of only a few cabins, some of which are standing today. ... more   less
