Great cabins located on ridge above Athabasca & Miette Rivers. Majority of staff were awesome. Very pet friendly; one even came to say good bye to my dogs! Cabins are fairly small but efficient once YOU get organized. Stopped at restaurant for Happy Hour only; delicious charcuterie board. They have an outdoor patio. If you have any requests re supplies,...

We just stayed here one night and we regret to stayed longer. It is cozy, friendly and the site is great. During the only evening we have had a nice meal, served by a nice girl originally from Utrecht, NL. Then a magician did a good show and after that all we sit at the border of the river watching...

The location of Tekarra Lodge is ideal: just outside of Jasper overlooking the confluence of the Miette and Athabasca Rivers. The cabins look comfy, but we stayed in a room upstairs in the main lodge, which is cheaper, and certainly adequate for a couple of nights. For the gregarious, there is a very nice sitting room your own glass of...

Very small cabins.ost are duplexes which kind of defeat the purpose of staying in a cabin (can hear showers and toilets). If you do stay here get one with a view of the rivers or the lake because otherwise you will be looking at the interior road.

We stayed in an Alberta Cabin - it is called a medium-sized cabin. It is okay for a couple, but too small for any more than 2 people. The living room/ kitchen area is tight . The kitchen has an apartment-sized stove - 3 gas burners and a small oven. There is one small sink and no counter space. The...

The location of this resort is lovely overlooking the river, but the prices are large and depending on the cottage the rooms are small and old. We were originally in 19 and there was not way this suited two people with luggage. It was so small that we asked to be moved and upgraded to 5 which was much better....

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabins are rustic but have all amenities that you need (TV was not missed as we played a family game of Yahtzee). Very close to town (could walk if you wanted). We had a room with two double beds (queen would be better but it was cozy). Wished we had booked a longer stay....

We stayed for four nights in June in a small cabin with a queen sized bed, kitchenette, three-piece washroom, small dining table that seated four, and wood burning fireplace. The cabin was clean, the bed was comfortable, and fire wood was restocked daily. There is a space for parking right next to the cabin and a small porch with outdoor...

You are very close to town, but feel miles away on the property. The room in the lodge was nice and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. I loved the sausage they served, it was very unique and tasty. The grounds overlooking the river was amazing and enjoyed the mountain views.

Staff and location provided us with a much needed break from last few months. Peaceful and relaxing setting with very helpful and friendly service. Couldn't have asked for more. Wonderful spot in the mountains with plenty activities to keep one occupied or the perfect place to just kick back and relax.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Tekarra Lodge enjoys an enviable location within Jasper National Park, the largest of the national mountain parks in Canada, 4200 square miles in area. Jasper became a National Park in 1907 and the town site's first buildings were constructed in 1911, then Jasper was known as the town of Fitzhugh. Tekarra Lodge is located across the river from the base of its namesake, Tekarra Mountain. Tekarra Mountain, towering 2635 meters above us is named for the Iroquois guide and hunter who accompanied Sir James Hector on his expedition through the Rocky Mountains during the mid-1850s. The skill and devotion of the guide Tekarra saved the lives of the members of that expedition. He sustained and fed them during the grim and bitter winter with caribou that he hunted on the mountain. It was because of this devotion that Sir James named the mountain Tekarra. The lodge grounds form the banks of the confluence of the Athabasca and Miette rivers. This land is maintained in its natural state, and offers a wonderful study for nature lovers. Tekarra's marked nature walk, and the Indian totem poles give pleasure to all ages. The area and history in and around the property is a fascinating one. One of the first settlements of Jasper called Henry House may have been located adjacent to the lodge on the south side of the river. Even today, there is still indication of an old homestead and some outbuildings. Tekarra Lodge was built circa 1947 and initially consisted of only a few cabins, some of which are standing today. ... more   less
