It was very nice stay. We arrived in late afternoon, early evening, and we took the light train, then the bus from airport. The location is excellent, few mins walk from Stanly park, and close to Safeway to shop, all kinds of restaurants, drug store, bank, etc.

We had one night at the Buchan and it was just perfect. Great value and clean, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The shared bathrooms were clean, warm and well lit. A 5 minute walk to the beach, with good local cafes and parks. Easy.

Great price and location. Nothing fancy or pretentious, just clean, comfortable and quiet and very affordable. A very well kept old building on the park side of Denman in Vancouver's Went End. Staff were all very nice. Would not hesitate to stay at The Buchan again and recommend to all.

Midway between the refuge of Stanley Park and the bustle of Denman street, The Buchan is very quiet at night. The staff goes out of their way to make a stay at a budget minded hotel enjoyable. Downstairs is an excellent Italian restaurant That's worth a visit for the quality, the price and the service.

A nice small hotel in the quiet end of Vancouver. Near Stanley Park and English Bay, many restaurants nearby. A 15min walk to nightlife area. Very clean, polite and helpful staff. A bit noisy (thin walls), but wasn't a big problem. Heat works well in room, good shower too. Would stay here again.

First, they let us check in early, which was very helpful and to room was very comfortable and clean. It's a pity they don't have a formal parking lot, but we paid the $10 for a parking spot and it worked out. There are so many place to walk to from this location.

Very comfortable bed and good room size for two people. TV and basin in the room. Free coffee and tea available. Close to many restaurants, Stanley Park and English Bay. Quite expensive (though usual for Vancouver)

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
