Stayed for a week for work with my wife. Alder Suite is big and very nice. Bed is comfortable. Good location - easy bus route to downtown - in beautiful neighborhood - great for walks or runs. Missed the hot breakfast as we left at 6am everyday but there was a nice continental option of cereals, fruit and toast -...

The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was healthy and delicious. The room was spacious, warm and inviting. Much better than a hotel. The location was convenient to many sources of entertainment.

Beautiful home in a prefect location! Very clean, great bed, linens and towels. The suite was very welcoming with a great new bathroom, great shower and we loved the sinks. Also loved the keypad entry system to the main house and each suite. Great to have a coffee maker, refrigerator, iron and safe in the room. Lighting was my only...

A small B&B very clean, room a fair size, lovely bedding and towels. A safe is in the wardrobe, plus iron if needed. The room we chose overlooked the front of the house so was a lot noisier than we had thought it would be, so choose carefully if you like a quiet room, the back of the house is...

Thank you for your kind words. For potential guests reading this review, please know there is an option for Host Check In, where you will be greeted by the host (me or my wife) at your pre determined time. Most guests prefer the self check in as door codes are provided prior to arrival. The self check in is an...

A beautifully presented room with modern bathroom. We stayed on a warm night. There was no air conditioning which meant that we had to have at least one window slightly open for ventilation. This meant there was no noise barrier to the extremely busy street below. The traffic noise was incredible with loud exhausts and sirens all through the night....

Hello SydneyTraveller33, & thank you for your kind comment "a beautifully presented room with modern bathroom." We are the largest B&B in Greater Vancouver, in Canada's wealthiest neighbourhood, and one of the very few that has central air conditioning. The AC is room controlled by ceiling pucks that can be adjusted by screwing open or closed. It appears the previous...

A welcome and refreshing change from staying in a hotel. Hosts Randy & Pam were friendly and helpful. The room was a lovely suite with a super comfortable bed, a spacious and clean on-suite, plenty of room to unpack bags and great servicing every day. Right by the bus stop and an easily walkable distance to Granville Island. Would not...

Thank you for your kind review during our peak summer season. My wife & I often take the bus downtown ourselves as parking can be expensive & difficult.

Our experience at this B and B was quite strange. We expected more of a traditional bed and breakfast experience. Instead, when we arrived, we entered a code on the front door and came in to a clean but empty home. The home itself is quite sterile and essentially devoid of any personality, though admittedly quite clean. We were instructed...

Dear Emily Y, Thank you for your review of our "clean home". Yes, my wife & I have lived at our Granville House B&B since we opened in 2008, so if we missed you it must have been because of your late arrival & early departure during your short stay with us. When researching B&Bs prior to opening (we owned...

Stayed in the Alder suite which had nice bed and linens and bath. There was a sofa in the room but faced away from the cumbersome to operate TV which set on a crowded desk. Cheryl K, thank you for your kind comments of "nice bed and linens and bath" and "cleanliness of the room and common area was impeccable". Our "shoes off" policy keeps things impecable & there are 2 sofas by the front door for sitting. We are looking at renovating your Alder Master Suite sofa to face a wall mounted LCD TV,...

Great location in Shaugnessy and we walked into Vancouver downtown (about an hour). Very comfortable beds and bed linen. Beautifully decorated too. Randy was extremely friendly and helpful. Good local eco products in the bathroom. All very well appointed. All in all excellent value and I highly recommend Granville House.

Wow, 5 stars! Thank you for appreciating our Shaughnessy location (Wikipedia describes as "Vancouver's wealthier neighbourhood" in the "second most expensive city in the world"). My wife & I strive to provide our guests with the best eco friendly B&B experience. Compared to hotels & AirBnB (which we are on), I believe we do offer, as you say, "excellent value"....

Overall, we had very good time in B&B. We stayed in Alder suite. It was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed a Jacuzzi, although we ran out of hot water when trying to take a shower afterwards. Thank you Curious_Cat for your near perfect review. We do not own a microwave (I think they are the scourge of the kitchen) and our milk steamer was broken. I may have annoyed you by offering our Numi Organic Dessert Lime (caffeine free) Tea with honey for your sore throat, commenting that milk will encourage flem. My bad. Randy

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighbourhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
