We stayed for two nights at the James Bay Inn. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. We had dinner twice in the dining room and both nights the presentation was great and the meals delicious and very reasonable. Would recommend the JBI for a comfortable and reasonable stay.

Lovely place to stay in Victoria. Blocks from Parliament Building, Royal BC Museum, waterfront, inner harbour, etc. Very nice lounges and outside decks on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Pub is excellent, very good service and food was good. Lots of locals which is usually a good sign. Nice quiet area but this is an old building so be prepared... More

This hotel was clean, comfortable, and the service was excellent. The hotel staff were friendly and always smiling. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The restaurant was also great for breakfast. Generous portions, and very decent prices.

This is a hotel with character, situated in James Bay, a quiet area of Victoria yet only 5 minutes walk from the Inner Harbour, the Parliament building and the Royal BC Museum, and close to the Emily Carr House and beautiful Beacon Hill Park. No elevator but help was offered with luggage. No kettle in the room. But the hotel... More

We stayed two nights in early September. The hotel is on the edge of a nice residential district. We were able to easily walk downtown to see the sights and for dinner as well. We also walked to Fisherman's Wharf. Our rooms was on the third floor. It was spacious, had two vanities and sinks, dated (as others have said)... More

My wife and I stayed here for three days and had a room on the third floor (no elevators) which was OK by us, but don't take heavy bags. The room, bed, bathroom was fine if dated but that was some of the charm. Nice areas to sit in but can't beat the location, lovely James Bay area nice streets... More

Homey, clean and welcoming hotel. Very quaint. Cute part of town, walked at night in and out of downtown and felt very safe (alone). Nice pub...great satisfying soups and shrimp toast. The staff was very informative and kind. No elevators....have to be able to lug your bags...or ask for help! Lobby coffee vs machines in the rooms which I don't... More

Our stay here was short. We were a bit disappointed with the small size of the room, and the somewhat dated feel to everything. Some would find this quaint, we on the other hand felt it lacked the vestiges of modernness. We suffered with the lack of elevator and two heavy suitcases. For location, this hotel is very well placed,... More

Had a 'petite' room and found it big enough for a solo traveller. Includes a small desk and a small TV but would have liked a kettle in the room. Basic furnishings but comfortable and great value for money. Historic building with some nice public spaces to sit and relax outside of the room, but some creaking and other noises... More

Just a couple of blocks from the downtown and ferry terminal, feels like a residential area. Small but charmingly decorated room, large bathroom. Felt more like a bed and breakfast. Coffee and tea in the lobby. We got 15% off in the restaurant with an amazing breakfast.
