The Inn is certainly in need of refreshing - and please bring back breakfast year round! At the very least, bottled water, a tea and coffee station available 24/7. Things are looking worn out, and only one full size towel in the bathroom is not okay!

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a photography tour of Nova Scotia. I would NOT stay here again. The house is beautiful but definitely needs some upkeep. The rooms were not clean and were not serviced at all during my stay. One of the other members of our group had to request someone to come and change the sheets on her bed as they were not clean. For breakfast, no one appeared until we finally called from the lobby phone. There was one choice for breakfast, no juice or cereal/milk. When we returned in the evening, our dishes from that morning were still on the table, exactly as we had left them. One of the rooms is immediately off the dining room and the noise from the phone in the lobby and the banging of dishes etc continued until well into the night. From my second floor room, I could hear 3 men talking below my room and this continued until at least 2 AM. I finally got up, opened the window and asked them to please be quiet. Whoever is operating this B&B obviously has NO clue about how to run a successful business. I will never stay there again.

The pictures on the website do not show how it looks now. The grass has not been mowed this year and the weeds are just as tall as the grass. Bushes are growing out of control. The tablecloths in the dining room had crumbs on them from the days before. The Keurig machine made the coffee taste funny which led me to believe it had not bee cleaned in a long time. The toilet seat in our bathroom was so loose it was almost falling off. The grime around the connections was so thick I did not want to try tightening it. The sink took forever to empty so the drain was most likely clogged. In spite of leaving a sign on our door to please make up our room while we were out the first day, we did not get fresh towels or our bed made for our second night there.. We do nor recommend staying there. We chose it because we would be close to the University for an event we were attending. Unfortunately I did not check the reviews here first.

I would NOT recommend this Place at all. There was no personal, contact. Very noisy, Door slamming until at least 2am. Very little sleep on our 1 night stay. If we had booked for long we would have checked out. What else can say, just not a place I would recommend!

I would not rank this as 4 Star. It is a beautiful building, but it is quite tired. It is apparently hard to keep clean, is quite noisy, is showing its age, and the antique furniture, albeit lovely, is inappropriate for travellers or is uncomfortable. If you want to stay in a beautiful old Victorian home, it certainly is that. The breakfast was very basic, but the staff member was friendly and tried hard.

We had stayed here 6 years ago and loved it. The inn itself is nice, but has badly deteriorated. Our room, while bright and nice looking at first glance, was filthy. First step into the bathroom, there was a plastic champagne glass on the floor. Towels clean but old and threadbare. Tub and sink were clean. Area rugs and floors were filthy, looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in ages. Dust everywhere, cobwebs in corners and closets. Sheets appeared to be dirty, and very old at least. The caretaker was nice, but at no time did we hear or see him cleaning. The bathroom in the main entry area was filthy—sink almost brown it was so dirty, mirror had old water/splash marks all over it, nothing was clean. Breakfast was included but we skipped it. Even the automatic coffee maker was so dirty, it had layers of dried coffee all over it. The whole dining area was dirty—side table, dining tables had dirty table cloths over them. No way we were eating there. Should have read the reviews first - don't make our mistake.

My wife and grandson arrived at the Inn to find the bedding stained and hair on the pillows. I advised the manager that we could not accept the room. We drove almost 2 hours to Halifax to find new lodging. Despite the fact that we did not use the room, the Inn charged us $206. I followed up by phone and email on multiple occasions requesting that the Inn reverse the charges. Despite my phone calls and emails and despite follow-up by Expedia and Visa, the Inn has not reversed the charge after more than 2 months. This is unacceptable and I advise travellers to avoid the Victoria Historic Inn.

For $175 a night they could at least provide pillow cases that fit the pillows and matched the sheets (which were stained). My room had an upgraded and very nice bathroom but the rest of the place is old, tired and feels neglected. I felt a bit like I was staying in the Kopec's house in the Movie "The Burbs". I was met by Deep and he was very nice & helpful but the rest of the place seemed abandoned. Breakfast wasn't until 8:30 am & I didn't stay.

Oh my goodness. Hard to describe how this Inn has declined since my last stay several years ago. It is dirty beyond with non-existing services. The linens were clearly not changed from the previous guests - crumbs in the bed when the covers were pulled back. We had to request the linens to be changed. The bathroom off the lobby was disgusting. Will report to the Better Business Bureau. Somehow, the Inn has blocked the ability to review on their website.
