This hotel is dingy the smell hits you as soon as you enter the lobby. The door to the room was very hard to open and closed and the noise it made I'm sure woke up every one in the building. The furniture was very well used . The bathroom shower was very unbelievable noisy. Why anybody would give this a 3 or 4 rating is beyond me. I will never be back here at this hotel. The one thing I can say the young staff on the front desk were friendly and helpful.

It was good being able to check in a little bit early that day and the front desk attendant was very accommodating. The hotel is definitely showing it's age and looks kind of the pictures online. However they are doing their best and trying to make it a pleasant experience. It's a safe neighborhood just a bit far from amenities. The restaurant is very good for breakfast, and very affordable. I'd come back if I'm ever back in Dartmouth again.

We visit Halifax-Dartmouth often and this is the first time we stayed at this small older hotel. It exceeded our expectations: it is clean, has comfortable beds, nice bath towels and toiletries, reliable wifi, free parking, and friendly front desk. We did not try the breakfast but the menu looked good, with reasonable prices.

This Hotel had very interesting decor on every single floor. It was clean with free parking outdoors. The staff were efficient and professional. There is an elevator in this three floor building. The room was clean and had a very comfortable bed with really comfortable pillows. The room had a small counter with a sink that isn't always found in hotel rooms. There was a refrigerator, a microwave and a small coffee maker. The hardwood floors made it really nice for us to not worry about allergies to dust. We noticed from our window facing the street that there is a highway nearby and an Atlantic Superstore within walking distance. * Note: the bath towels were very thin, breakfast was not included and the bathroom had a permanent smell of pee, from when we initially got there.

It's in a quiet location close to many amenities. When we first arrived I did question my choice as there is a bit of a run down apartment building across the street. I was really hoping it wasn't part of the hotel and that's where we'd end up, but it wasn't to my relief. The hotel itself is quiet and clean, bonus was no carpet in our room. We heard no noise through the walls in our room. The king bed was super comfy and we were ready to take the bedding home with us. I would definitely stay here again.

Worst hotel I’ve been in a very long time. I went up to the room and stayed only long enough to snap a few photos for posterity, and hastily book another hotel in the same area. I’ll let you judge what it was like by looking at the pictures. However there was a certain smell it that room that images alone cannot convey. I don't understand how this place (I can’t bring myself to call it a hotel) can have a 4-star rating on Tripadvisor. Maybe it used to be better, but if you look at the first pages of comments, you won't see many glowing reviews, au contraire.

We spent one night in a comfortable, clean, and quiet room. We ate two meals in the restaurant- both were tasty, not overpriced and servers did an excellent job. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, even allowed us an early check in. I was concerned when reading previous reviews but our experience was good from start to finish. We especially enjoyed the decor- a step back in time and very welcoming.

This hotel was nothing but pure disappointment. From the rude staff members, to mice on the main floor and VLT room. We tried multiple rooms with no TV that would work, the staff were rude to the kids, the key cards wouldn’t work. My daughter almost got stuck in the elevator and at one point was terrified to leave the room. The stairs were weak, the front doors were broken. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody even as a last resort. For the price, the staff could be a little more friendly. It was dirty, our bed had a stain on it and spots of brown on the ceiling, obviously where water had leaked through. Air conditioner didn’t work in the room. It was not pleasurable at ALL

Staying at this hotel was one of the most unique experiences I've had with an accommodation. The building is old and the lobby smells of cigarettes upon entering. The historical artifacts and decor are beautiful but it has a creepy air. The staff were friendly. The room was large but felt dated and not entirely clean. Once settled in I turned on the tv and fireplace, charged my phone, and began using the microwave to heat up some food when all of a sudden the lights went out and I was standing in darkness. Apparently I had tripped a breaker which leads me to believe the electrical is not up to code. I inquired if this was a common occurrence and was told it wasn't. There was a drop of dried blood on the floor near the toilet, in the washroom. I was a little uneasy about using the shower. The water pressure was very light, the temperature kept rising and the nozzle was lose and felt as though it was ready to fall off. The location is close to shopping. I booked through Expedia and expected a complimentary continental breakfast as indicated however was told that feature recently was no longer offered. The guest attendant had a continental breakfast takeaway bag packed for me from the lounge. It was mediocre but consisted of a pre packaged carrot muffin with mold on it. The hotel is a little cheaper than most in the area but if you're looking to avoid the issues mentioned above, it's best to dish out a few extra dollars to ensure the comforts you pay for. It's a little unfortunate because I feel there is potential to make this place amazing with a few little tweaks. I am being generous in given this place a 3 star review.
