Stayed here for NYE and it was great. Loved eating at the in-house restaurant, Chop. The room was very nice. Plentiful, big pillows and comfy bed. Had a separate room with couch and TV. Sweet view of citadel hill. Staff were all helpful. Valet service had all our luggage in our room before we checked in. Retrieved the car very quickly. Location is right down town in the new Nova Centre.

Hotel's Favourite
Went with my wife for a four day getaway, and had an amazing time. The hotel is centrally located, so you can walk to almost anything (if you don't mind the hills). At check-in we were greeted by Maria (?) who was very friendly and answered all our questions. Her restaurant recommendations were on the mark, and she waved to us from the front desk every day. Awesome staff overall, and I had a chance to meet Mark the GM to pass along my compliments. The rooms are very clean (another group of great staff), and have outstanding views. Nice to have a Nespresso machine in the room, and they will provide complimentary glass bottles of water by request. Unlike many hotels, there are ample plugs/USB ports on the bedside tables, and the bed was super comfortable. Lots of things to do in the immediate vicinity: Brunch: Elle's Bistro (try the Caesars and Halifax Benny), Stubborn Goat (try the flight of Caesars) & The Black Sheep (known for their Duck ' Breakfast' Poutine) Dinner: 5 Fishermen & McElvies Boardwalk: Salty's (great fish & chips on the water), Dave's Lobster Shack (Lobster Rolls), Cow's Ice Cream, and Garrison Brewery (try the flight of beer samples) Night: Tony's or King of Donair (local version of a gyro with sweet sauce), The Lower Deck (music and drunkeness) Attractions: The Citadel (especially fir militarybuffs), Pier 21 Immigration Museum (found the boat my family arrived on in 1884), Halifax Harbour Tours (one hour on an electric boat with 8 passengers--nice & mellow), and the Victorian Gardens were practically next door Can't believe we fit all of that into four days (did the Lobster Shack on a previous visit), but it was amazing. PS If you like records, check out Taz

There weren't any functions aat the adjacent arena, so fortunately not too busy in the area. Great location and walkable to most attractions. Valet parking was convenient, with helpful staff during our stay. The lobby bar closes unusually early, so no nightcap here. Rooms and amenities are very good. A comfortable stay.

I wanted to have a little social gathering of about 4 people, we usuals gather annually and its for a special time like Halloween or New years. I contacted the hotel and requested to see the two rooms I had reserved to make sure they are a good size, I had stayed at this hotel before and I wanted to view executive suit in room 1901 and I wanted to look at the Grand suite as I wanted the size. The Grand suits seating area was to small for four people the executive suit was nice but he did not show me the room I wanted, so I have no idea how big the room is I need for 4 people to fit. I called the hotel to request an appointment time to see room 1901 and to reserve and book the prince suit, I was immediately told no parts in the prince suit and to keep the noise down in the executive suit, Im a platinum member and Im 41, I have stayed at this hotel before and I do not need to be treated like a 19 year old booking his first hotel room lol. I was very offended by the way she stated, as if I was going to hold a party of 100 in their hotel, I cancelled both reservations as I did not want to be treated badly at their hotel and I don't recommend staying here if the group is more then 3 people as you may be told to keep the noise down when check-in in with children.

Stayed here at the start and end of our trip to Halifax. The rooms are huge with a massive bed and a very fancy bathroom. Staff helpful and valet parking was ideal, if a little expensive. Both our experiences were great - it was a relief to know we'd be returning to a fine hotel rather than a poor one.

I had an excellent stay at the hotel! The food was well prepared! I had a late checkin and the staff were able to guide me on the phone important details. All of the staff were very professional and helpful especially Jacob. He was the valet member who answered some local tourist questions I had.

Bit hard to find the hotel entrance, terrible signposting. Check-in was fine, but no mention of breakfast.. It mentions breakfast on the website, but it’s not a ‘hotel breakfast’ with continental style set-up and hot food to order, it’s a menu you order from. It wasn’t included in the price of the room, but would have been good to know the hours and how it works. The breakfast ended up being disappointing, they’d run out of both of the cold yoghurt/granola/smoothie options, only had white bread not the rye bread listed as coming with the salmon platter, cheap butter, and bad coffee. My daughter ordered a lemonade drink which was lemon juice and soda water in a huge glass with ice - would have been good to know it was unsweetened. Bad communication was a theme of our stay. When the hotel had no water for hours one morning, there was no communication from the hotel, no email, no information, nothing. I don’t think that’s great in 2023, it would have been so easy to shoot us an email with an explanation. The very nice and helpful room attendant did give us some bottles of water when we happened to ask her what was going on which was great because when the water came back on it was dark brown so we used bottle water to brush our teeth etc. Room pros - incredible views, floor to ceiling windows, extremely comfortable bed and bedding, good TV, nice bathroom with good fixtures and good products, nice design, Nespresso machine worked well, black out and privacy blinds very good quality and worked well. There was ample storage for clothes and we didn’t feel cramped in the space which was great. The room was also spotless which was great. The valet service worked well and was cheaper than self-parking. Cons: We got a suite as we are 4 - the pull out sofa was really uncomfortable and not set up before we arrived which is always a bit awkward to stand and watch someone make your bed, then there were no pillows so the poor guy had to come all the way back, it was just badly organised. Our kids are 12 and 13 so in fairness they are getting too old for this arrangement, but the couch was not a good quality big couch, it was dinky by our standards. I asked if we could change rooms, the reception desk person said they only had a room for one of our remaining three nights. I felt that a little bit of effort could have solved our problem - they could have upgraded a couple to a suite and offered us a room with two double beds, she could have talked to a manager, but it was just shrug of the shoulders.. Not what I would have hoped when a 5 night stay cost $4200, I wasn’t asking for a refund, just a solution to the tired teens.. There was also a pretty big yellow stain on the green chaise lounge in our room which makes the place look tired and was too bad given how nice the design is. I think we’ll try other hotels in the area next time, the location & design are great, but it wasn’t worth the price tag for us.

An incredible hotel in a perfect location. Our room was spacious and luxurious. Valet aprking worked very quickly and easily - we were impressed. Extra shout out for the doorman named 'Harsh' who was most helpful, going out of his way to assist, and he was such a charming man to meet.

What a lovely hotel. I decided to treat myself and a friend for her birthday and stay at an upscale hotel while in Halifax for 3 days. The rooms are expertly appointed with lovely, modern, elegant finishes. The bathroom was also beautiful with a separate water closet and huge shower with rain head. Tons of closet space, complimentary bathrobes and umbrellas for all those foggy rainy Haligonian days! While food was not included in our room rate, Chop Steakhouse provides great on-site food options. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, allowing us to leave our car parked in the underground parking lot after check out, without an extra fee, so we could enjoy our last afternoon in town without the hassle of having to find parking. The hotel is conveniently located walking distance from the wharf, incredible restaurants, shopping and nightlife. The covered drive-in entryway is great for ducking out of the often wet Haligonian weather. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a chic hotel tucked into bustling downtown Halifax.
