My husband and I just spent two nights in the Customs House Inn. It was fantastic!! Comfortable king bed big jacuzzi tub. Walk to cool pubs with great food and music. Beyond homey feel with the wonderful Dave and Doug as hosts!! We highly recommend! Highest ceilings and most beautiful woodwork I have seen in this unique historic site.

We spent one evening at this Inn. We were a little concerned when we were entering the building because the entrance stairs are in disrepair. Our room was fine with a brand new bathroom but we didn't want to open the windows because all the screens were torn. We enjoyed a good breakfast the next morning with toast, cereal, etc...

This was a real customs house ( import duty and tax office) when built in 1872...140 years ago. It is at the waterfront, about 200 meters ( yards) from the full size replica of the Hector and only a bit further from the then US Consulate. Restaurants, waterfront, ships, salt air...right here...and the large bedrooms are very comfortable.

First, the owner was a very pleasant, interesting man. We enjoyed conversing with him as he told us about the history of the building and town. Otherwise, we were not happy with the Inn. When we arrived there was no one around. When the owner showed up he had no idea that we had a previously made reservation. It was...

We wanted to use Pictou as our jump off point for our visit to Nova Scotia and this inn was just fabulous. The rooms feature lots of original woodwork and very high ceilings. Walking distance to main street in Pictou with some cute restaurants. Innkeeper is Doug and is super personable. The continental breakfast could be slightly improved with muffins/Danish/bagels...

The customs house is so grim a building we drove right past thinking it could not be a hotel . A prison perhaps,or a warehouse. There was another such a place in the middle of town, surrounded by a wire fence and actually derelict. The innkeeper answered our knock wearing shorts with a wondering look ,as if he too was...

The Inn was well situated near the waterfront, close to the Hector Heritage Quay. Our room (2D) was spacious with a large, confortable bed. The washroom was spacious as well. The Customs House is a beautifull old historic building. We very much enjoyed chatting with Don in the morning while having breakfast. If we are ever that way again we...

This is a lovely hotel with beautiful big rooms. The kitchenette is a very small corner but adequate. The reception was friendly and breakfast and conversation with Doug was very nice. The Hector museum was closed at this time of year but I would stop by Pictou again just to stay here.

Pictou turned out to be a charming little town. The Custom House added to the experience. Rooms were old but beautifully appointed. Nice continental breakfast and everyone we ran into (especially the Coast Guard employees staying on site) were delightful.
