From the moment that you walk through the door, you will know that this 1832 Inn is truly a special place. This luxurious Manor House offers 4-diamond accommodation and dining. Many of the rooms have wood burning or gas fireplaces; glass enclosed rain-head showers or jet-air tubs and private verandahs to enjoy the view of the golf course, main street or Lake Ontario.

This was the 4th or 5th time over 15 yrs we’ve stayed/dined at The Charles Hotel. Will definitely be back. Staff is very friendly & accommodating. Dinner was ok, not as good as we remembered from years past for the price. Breakfast was, however, delicious. Our room was great. I

I wish I could give a review in the negative, like -10!! My boyfriend and I decided to stay in the verandah room, not knowing that this hotel caters to a much much older crowd. We’re both 30 so we aren’t in a crazy 19 year old party phase, however, it was New Year’s Eve and of

Thank you for your recent review, we were expecting to hear from you. As you can see from our reviews, the Veranda Room is one of the most sought after rooms in the Charles Hotel. Adjacent to the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club, this refined hotel in an 1832 manor house welcomes guests of all ages. Unfortunately your review is missing some important details. I sincerely apologize to our other hotel guests as they had to deal with your disruptions. The potent smell of canabis coming from your room and verandah, the disturbing domestic altercation that happened between 2 am and 4:30 am New Year’s morning which resulted in our security department being dispatched and moving you to a sister hotel, where you stayed complimentary. It was your choice & request to return, which we once again escorted you back to the Inn. The Niagara Region has a very strict Smoking Bylaw which we comply with. And for those guests joining us, who are not familiar with the rules & regulations, we include our smoking policy in our confirmation letter, and again on our registration card that you signed at check in. Unfortunately, you chose to ignore the information, so upon the first smell of canabis coming from your guest room, we did come to speak with you to remind you that smoking is prohibited on property. Following the second request, you were reminded of the $200 CAD cleaning fee, which is also on the registration card that you signed. Peggy Jo Wills was the manger closest to the property that day and she did come to The Charles along with the Niagara Regional Police. You were smoking cannabis in and on the veranda, you had been intoxicated and just a few hours prior there was a domestic dispute and now you are operating a motor vehicle under the influence. This is why I suspect you decided to leave before she or the police were able to get there. As for the $900 charge you speak of, this was including your cleaning fee. overnight accommodations and your six course dinner for two at The Hobnob. Sincerely, Jennifer Dickson Guest Services Manager

We booked a Harvest package in November which included breakfast the following morning plus coupons to tastings at two wineries. This was an excellent off-season value, especially considering that it included a marvelous breakfast. The breakfast menu offered about 6-8 choices

From the moment we entered until the moment we left the staff were amazing and attentive and just pure friendly. We stayed in the safari room (lots of bad reviews about it). We loved it. Yes there are lots of stairs ( so if you don’t like stairs then not the room for you).

Thank you "sharkkky" for the review! I must agree with you, I do love the Safari Loft. It's spacious but cosy and the soaking tub is a wonderful way to end the day. HobNob is a definitely must and especially with our dining promotion, it is a great value. You might have that "start the car" feeling as you leave, but not too worry, you didn't steal your dinner. We look forward to welcoming you back and perhaps we can introduce you to a few more new wineries. Sincerely, Jennifer Dickson Guest Services Manager

We are repeat customers at the Charles Inn and the Hob Nob. The service is excellent, the rooms are wonderful, and the food is creative, delicious, beautiful and exceptional. The wine list at the Hob Nob has allowed us to sample the best of the region. We will be back!

I don’t think this property is dog friendly. I have never seen it advertised and after many stays there I have not seen guests with dogs. But, not 100% sure. I would email the property and ask. It’s a fantastic property to stay at.

Probably not. With a young infant I would look at a Hotel in the area. The Charles is an Inn. Excellent property but likely awkward for young children to stay in.

"We used to like Room 1 - not sure now. Do not book room 7 - the Safari Room - especially if you are tall or don't like the attic heat!"
"Do not stay in Room #10. Very tired. Not worth the money."
"Bed size and stairs! be sure you can climb"
"1Know where your room will be when you book. Book at another place. There are many better accommodations."
"Sits right on the corner of the oldest golf course (9 holes) in North America."
