The restaurant manager is extremely rude and disrespectful. He complained to the concierge about me and another stranded traveller eating delivery in the lobby waiting area. I’m a stranded traveller who missed his connection (flight delays) and stayed at the hotel. I was checked out, and had a lot of waiting to do as my flight was at night the next day. I was sitting in the lobby area passing time, so I ordered delivery via UberEats. Half way through my meal, the concierge came and told me that the restaurant manager called her and wasn’t happy that I was eating delivery in the public areas, and that I had to go to my room… There was another traveller who they also told they weren’t allowed to keep eating their food that was also on my flight. Imagine being travelling, missing your connection due to delays, your next flight is the following day late in the evening, and you have nowhere to go and you’re hungry. Your hungry and want to eat while you wait… and then they tell you you’re not allowed… ummm okay. Sure, I understand there’s a restaurant right next to me, but I literally stayed the night there, and I wasn’t even sitting in the restaurant… very rude and disrespectful in opinion. I had nowhere to go, and it made me feel extremely unwelcome and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t ever step foot here again.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I, my brother and sister in law just spent 5 days at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Ottawa sightseeing. The hotel is located NW of Parliment Hill but close enough to walk everywhere. We are a 50+ something group and we walked every day to Parliment Hill, Rideau Locks, Byward Market, the Canadian War Museum etc. The hotel is clean and bright, the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Shelby at the front desk, she helped us with questions several times. Shelby always had a smile a kind word and the information we were looking for. The beds were very comfortable, we each had a king river view room, they were clean and had everything we needed, coffee maker, microwave and fridge. Our fridge broke the first day and they brought us another right away. The showers were walk in showers without a tub and were roomy and clean. We ate at the hotel restaurant Tulip a couple of times and the meals were delicious. We would highly recommend this hotel for it's convenience and comfort.

The quality of this hotel staff sucked! The morning Manager, knowing we were not happy, shrugged and said he would have to talk to the person that checked us in. There was no one who tried to make good on their promise. It was disappointing.

Very nice place to stay as for the room and in a great area too. Room and bathroom were very spacious. Super clean and nice views of the Ottawa river. No bath tub though. Our only complaint is the restaurant. For breakfast they only offered a buffet. Not everyone wants to spend big money for it when they want something small. We went offsite for a great breakfast at half the cost.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Our room was on the 2nd floor. Was a small room for a King room but it was just 2 of us so we made due. Shower was nice. Loved how the on /off dial was on the opposite wall of the spray head. Good water pressure too. Bathroom vent didn’t work well, but I’ve rarely come across a hotel whose bathroom vent does. There were no dresser drawers to use, but there were open rack drawers by the bathroom. There was a keurig in the room with coffee. The mini fridge is in a closed cabinet and didn’t work well at all I suspect from lack of air flow but I don't know. We cranked the temp much colder to try and chill the water bottles and it didn’t change much. Ended up putting ice in the ice bucket with the bottle of water/diet coke and put that in the fridge. The bed was a little in the soft side for my personal preference but otherwise I’m good shape. The room thermostat was set to 18 and on when we got there. It NEVER shut off. Checking in , we were not told about the covid procedures regarding housekeeping and they never came. We were told if you want to use the pool/gym you must come to the desk and provide proof of vaccination….my husband used the gym and was the only person in it. We were not told about the breakfast. We talked to another guest who told us. So on our last day. We just wanted a bowl of cereal nothing extravagant. We went to the lady checking off patrons to the breakfast. She says you’re in the hotel you don’t have to pay for breakfast and writes our room number in the corresponding column , then says wait yes you do, scribbles out our room number and writes it in the other column. Then says wait a sec. and asks someone. Then says yes we have to pay and it is $21 each. We asked again, the hotel guests pay but long term suite guests don’t? She was confused so we left and went to Tims in the Delta hotel across the street. Went to their Tulip lounge one evening and each had a beverage. Was priced ok and made well , but trying to get our bill took time. The waitress seemed unorganized. We had no vehicle this trip so I cannot comment on the parking space. The staff weren’t overly friendly, they often went out of their way to not make eye contact Overall it was “ok”
