This charming B&B was ideal for my short stay in Ottawa. About 15/20mins by foot from the centre of Ottawa, on a quiet residential street, Alexander House is brilliantly located and very peaceful. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast is brilliant - eggs any way you fancy, and mountains of fruit, granola and yoghurt. I had the... More

Alexander House is B&Bing done right. A few large comfortable rooms with private ensuite bedrooms in a quiet residential neighborhood. Our hosts were very pleasant and helpful even walking us down the street to show us where we'd catch the bus to the airport on our last day. They were also interesting people and easy to talk to. Our room... More

When my husband and I had communicated about the reservation per email and phone, we talked with Stephen of Alexander house each time. We had mistakingly assumed that we would be welcomed by a couple of men, and were surprised when Sandra answered the door upon our arrival. This misunderstanding was the start of a very pleasant and entertaining 2... More

Alexander House was one of the first Bed & Breakfasts I ever stayed in, and is still my gold standard for B&Bs. The house is charming, elegant but comfortable, very much in keeping with the character of the street and the neighbourhood. The rooms are very tastefully furnished, the beds wonderful, the ensuites cleverly designed to make the most of... More

This was a very nice place to stay, conveniently located, a short walk to downtown, in a pretty house. It was comfortable and affordable. The hosts were very welcoming and interesting. Breakfast was generous and yummy. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately I had a slip in Ottawa and hurt my ankle. The host drove me to the hospital to get it checked out rather then me having to find a place myself considering i didn't know the area. After getting checked out i wasn't able to walk around and see the sites myself. So they drove me about and showed... More

This is an excellent value with a large hot breakfast and large clean rooms. The hosts are very hospitable people. The location is walkable to Byward Market and Parliament Hill, though the latter is a bit far. Transit on nearby Rideau Street is convenient.

We wanted to be near the Byward market and this Sandy Hill location was convenient to that and a lot more. We came from Quebec and the b and b was just a few minutes driving time over the bridge. Rideau is under construction and can be a bit unsavoury at night, but the B and B street - Besserer... More

Wonderful helpful and welcoming hosts, ideal, quiet location within walking distance of some of Ottawa's main attractions, fantastic breakfasts, spotlessly clean, comfortable, value for money, parking availability - every aspect of this accommodation rates at the top of the scale. This BnB is one of the primary reasons we enjoyed Ottawa so much. Since my husband and I have some... More
