Wanted a nice place to stay with a friend from Alaska, not the run-of-the-mill hotel. This was the place. We had separate rooms and shared a bathroom. The hostess, was most gracious, after a warm welcome, she gave us a tour of the house, and showed us to our rooms, which were plenty spacious and beautifully decorated. The house was... More

We stumbled onto this b&b online when we we were three hours west of Thunder Bay in mid September. Fortunately they had a room left so we jumped at it. The hosts are friendly, gracious and genuine. This is an amazing character home built in 1905. It has been meticulously restored or maintained and is wonderfully furnished in keeping with... More

My wife and I stayed at this charming BnB as we rode our bicycles west across Canada. The hosts were very welcoming. The room was incredible and clean. They had suggested a place for dinner which was also great. Plus they were helpful in storing our bikes for the evening. We would definitely stay there again except for longer.

Travelled across Canada staying at B&B's and we stayed here for two nights in the Manor room. Being right in the city it is amazing how "in the county" it feels. Area is quiet and only a short walk to the lake. The room was exceptional with a very comfortable bed, large bathroom with separate spa and shower, toiletries supplied... More

We drove to Thunder Bay, sadly to visit family members in hospital. What a wonderful place McVicar Manor was to return to in the evenings - a gracious mansion from 1900 with spacious grounds and well-tended gardens. A sunroom filled with books and easy chairs, 4 bedrooms with fridges, antique furniture, comfortable beds, excellent internet, heaps of towels and luxurious... More

The rooms were booked so all we could book was the one night they had the manor room free. You don't see rooms like these any more. Tom's photos adorn the walls and the room itself is very large with a turret on one side. A modern bathroom with jacuzzi ensure with thick luxurious bathrobes. A conservatory attached to the... Stayed twice now. I found it perfect for a woman travelling alone and not familiar with bus routes, proximities to restaurants; attractions; shopping etc. Owners exceptionally helpful and I felt very safe as their directions and advice excellent. Breakfasts, exceptional and all made by owner, Dorothy. What choices! And a nice glass of Malbec in the living room to end... More

This is a B and B close to Lake Superior in Thunder Bay. Very unique old mansion. Full of antiques and just has a really charming feel to it. Absolutely lovely. Very comfortable. Very quiet. Gracious hosts. Fantastic breakfast. Highly recommended.

This century home is magnificently furnished. The location, beside a rushing creek, is peaceful and pretty. It is a short walk to restaurants and the waterfront. Breakfast was plentiful and perfectly prepared. All the amenities were first rate. We will be staying here any chance we get. It is not cheap but,in this case, you get what you pay for!

My wife and I spent a week at McVicar Manor and it was the best B & B stay we have ever had (and we regularly stay in B & Bs when traveling). The Manor truly is a manor, and you're able to make use of the large living room and sun room for reading or relaxing, as well as... More

“I am sure that the rooms with baths are the best, especially the turret room. We shared a bathroom and that was just fine.”

“The Manor Room is sunnier due to the number of windows. The McVicor Room is darker (great for sleeping a little later) but has a wonderful balcony overlooking the gardens. Just to keep in mind as this time of year (June) it is light until after 10 PM and the sun comes up around 5 AM.”
