We spent a night in one of the recently renovated delux king rooms. The room was very nice. Maybe a little small, but nice for the money. The bed was very comfortable, and it was nice that the windows open in the room to allow some fresh air in the room. We took advantage of the pool area for a...

What a big, beautiful and historical hotel. Close to everything you want to do in Toronto and is right at the drop-off point for the free Porter Airlines courtesy shuttle. Great staff and nice sized rooms, which some rooms have really good city and peekaboo water views. lots of luxury touches and fixtures. Rooms are surprisingly quite for being in...

Mini bar door was disgusting and required cleaning. $20-$30 per day for wifi? Ridiculous. Mini bar prices were not to be believed. Super convenient for Air Canada Centre. Located on Toronto's PATH so easy walk to Eaton Centre or Acquarium/CN Tower/Rogers Centre.

Stayed 3 nights. The only thing that would have made our stay perfect was a better view. Mini bar items are weighted so couldn't use that fridge for our own things. Superb beds and bedding. Asked for a fridge and one was brought to our room. Stayed in room 4261. Lovely suite but looked out over a roof so really...

We booked a "signature" suite for two nights, at a post-tax cost of $361 per night. The "suite" was just an under-furnished double-sized room. We were surprised to find that the suite didn't include a chest of drawers in which to store our clothes. It would make a good hospitality suite if not for the presence of two double beds....

Encouraged in no small part by the Trip Advisor reviews and their responses we decided to give this much rated hotel a try and we were not disappointed in any way. We had a very enjoyable two night stay and nothing was too much trouble for the ever friendly staff. This imposing building is just across the road from Grand...

The Fairmount made our mother-daughter get-away memorable. Christmas decorations in the main lobby were so festive an inviting. Great location- convenient for walking, subway, shopping theatre, restaurants and much more!

The Royal York in Toronto is a very impressive property. The experience was great. We had breakfast at the Epic Lounge in the lobby and it was divine, as was our later stop at the Library Bar. We were a bit disappointed at how early the lounges in the lobby closed, 12:30am, considering it was Grey Cup weekend. But we...

For a Fairmont, this place is on the higher end. The Library Bar offers fantastic martinis (if a bit pricey), and if you stay during the holidays there is often free hot chocolate. Parking 1/2 block away is 1/3 the price, that's a tip to take seriously. The rooms are well designed, and the hotel had an annual NYE party...

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
