Clean rooms but small. Friendly service. The construction was a pain in the butt but oh well. Close to all downtown attractions. Definitely walk able with older children. The only cab we took was to the CNE.
As always the Royal York does not disappoint. Comfortable, clean, quiet room. Very nice bathrooms that are bright and look super clean with carrera marble as far as the eye can see. Staff are top-notch - friendly, helpful and very professional. They seem to have...More

Currently the lobby is being renovated so no sense of entry, in fact a bit chaotic. Staff were very friendly, rooms were ok size, historic more than modern feel. Close to everything from fantastic restaurants, stadium, CN Tower, etc.. 20 minutes from airport with no...More
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe
Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.

I would suggest the UP express if it is still running when you land - the last run is 12:57am I believe from Pearson. It is never too crowded and is an easy find in Terminal 1. It is a 25 minute train ride to Union Station and the stop at Union is directly across the street from Fairmont. I think that even though there will luggage, late at night and sleepy kids. I think this may still work easily for you. It shouldn’t be busy so late at night so it will likely be even less crowd. And it is no exaggeration when saying it is literally across the street from the hotel. You have to cross just one intersection and the train ride is nice, quiet and quick.
