This is a Historic Hotel with oaken doors, wide baseboards and crown molding; loaded with character. As with most historical properties rooms are slightly smaller than the average chain hotel. If you are looking for a spacious nouveau monochromatic room this is not the place for you. Small character filled elevators, I found them a bit slow - I would...

We chose the Fairmont both for its location and history. It was very convenient to hop off the UP Express from the airport and walk across the street. There was easy access to downtown attractions and we enjoyed the walk. The hotel itself is gorgeous. They upgraded us to a renovated room that was tastefully done. The staff were knowledgeable...

We used to stay at the Fairmont Royal York quite frequently. My work’s office is located a 5 minute walk away from the hotel, so during year-end when long hours were required, the company put us up here to help minimize the commute times. That policy was scrapped about a decade ago, so this was my first visit back since....

We stayed in one of the refurbished suites and it was very roomy & tastefully done. Very friendly and professional staff. Love the ornate entry to the hotel. Conveniently located close to the C.N Tower, Ripley's Aquarium, St. Lawrence Market and shopping. Just across the street from Union Station so we actually took the train into the city and then...

First time staying here, lovely hotel but disappointed in the size of room and had thought I had upgraded so that our request for a room with view of the City would happen instead we got a view of a lane way.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
